Excellent art ceramic figurine from the 1930s: Striding young lady with a cropped, delicate top and a large hat, holding up the long, wide skirt with a stylized floral pattern with both hands. On a black oval base, artist's signature 'Dakon' on the bottom. Based on the film 'The Blonde Dream', starring Lilian Harvey. Lilian Harvey (1906 - 1968) was a British-German actress, singer and dancer. From 1923 she attended the ballet school of the German State Opera and received first paid appearances as a dancer in Hungary and Austria. She made a total of 12 films with Willy Fritsch, and in 1930 came the decisive breakthrough with the romantic comedy film 'Liebeswalzer'. 1931 the film 'The Congress Dances' appeared, in which she appeared in a scene 'Christels Song', better known as 'Das gibt's nur einmal' that today still exists as an Evergreen. During the Nazi era in Germany Lilian Harvey's career stopped because of her opposition to the regime and she emigrated first to southern France and then to the United States. Although unsigned, this magnificent Austrian expressionist art ceramic sculptural vase with three receptacles is attributed to Vally Wieselthier for Wiener Werkstatte, ca. 1920. Valerie "Vally" Wieselthier (Austrian-American, 1895 – 1945) was an outstanding ceramic artist. She was born to a Jewish family in Vienna, Austria. Her father, Wilhelm Wieselthier was a lawyer. Valluy attended theWiener Frauenacademie in Vienna from 1912 to 1914 and studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Rosalinda Rothhansl, Kolo Moser, Jodef Hoffmann and Michael Powolny from 1914 to 1920. In addition, she worked as an auxiliary nurse during the First World War. From 1917 to 1922, she worked for the Wiener Werkstatte. From 1922 to 1927, she ran her own ceramic workshop in cooperation with the Augarten porcelain factory, which was newly founded in 1923, but also with other companies such as Friedrich Goldschider, Gmundner Keramik and Lobmeyr. Her expressive and humorous porcelain figures attracted attention at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern in Paris in 1925 and are considered typical examples of the Art Deco style style. Large Austrian Neoclassical style porcelain vases by Royal Vienna Austrian, Late 19th Century Height 98cm, diameter 32cm Crafted by the prestigious Royal Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, this exquisite pair of vases embodies the centuries-old tradition of European porcelain artistry. Designed in an elegant baluster form, each vase features a deep navy ground, providing a striking backdrop for the finely hand-painted historical tableaux. The slender necks are adorned with delicate gilded patterns, further enhanced by ribbon-tied accents and raised gilded jewels, a particularly coveted element in high-quality porcelain. Matching porcelain lids, crowned with a pinecone finial, complete the sophisticated design, while the spreading socle bases mirror the decorative motifs of the necks. These include: Der letzte Reichstag zu Warschau (The last parliament in Warsaw), Karl V als Befreier der christlichen Sklaven in Tunis (Charles V as liberator of the Christian slaves in Tunis), Cromwell verhindert die Verfolgung des Waldenser (Cromwell prevents the persecution of the Waldensians), Bataille de Bouvines (Battle of Bouvines). Each piece bears the blue ‘FD/ VIENNA / AUSTRIA’ mark for Franz Dörfl. With their grand proportions, historical depth, and remarkable artistic execution, this pair of vases is an extraordinary acquisition for any collector of fine European porcelain.
