An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver and quartz chalice in the Arts and Crafts style; an addition to our religious silverware collection
This exceptional antique George V sterling silver ecclesiastical chalice has a circular rounded form onto a globular knop and subtly tapering pedestal to a swept circular foot.
The surface of the chalice has a planished finish in the Arts and Crafts style.
The pedestal of the chalice is ornamented with a globular quartz crystal knop, flanked with applied bead decorated borders.
The swept pedestal is further encircled with engraved and pierced decorated geometric motifs.
The impressive spreading foot is ornamented with an impressive applied silver gilt staurogram*, in addition to the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented to Holy Souls' - Wilpshire, by the family of FR William James Dorran (1938-98), please pray for him and for Canon William Dorran (1890-55)'.
The circular drinking vessel retains the original gilt interior.
