About the Item
A high quality and most unique French 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu centerpiece. This stunning centerpiece is raised by a triangular Carrara marble pedestal with protruding sides flanked by foliate Ormolu mounts and supports on an Ormolu base plate. Above are three intertwined Ormolu dolphins with water spilling from their mouths surrounding a foliate finial. The pedestal supports an elegant and richly carved white Carrara marble shell, serving as the vessel. An open winged cherub stands proudly at the stern of the vessel, atop of a scrolled acanthus leaf platform decorated by a tied bow. At the bow is an open winged maiden flanked by berried laurel swaging garlands on each side. All original gilding throughout.
