French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and White Carrara Marble Candelabra
About the Item
An exquisite French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and white Carrara marble candelabra, modeled after Clodion. The two arm candelabra is raised by fine topie shaped feet below the white Carrara marble base with a most elegant pierced fitted ormolu band. Above is the charming ormolu cherub, seated on a tree trunk while draped in a wonderfully executed flowing garment and wearing a grapevine wreath in his hair. He is holding beautiful branches with charming berries and flowers leading up to lovely foliate candle cups with richly chased palmettes. All original gilt throughout.
