Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Marble and Ormolu Candelabras
About the Item
A most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and white Carrara marble candelabras. Each three arm candelabra is raised by a triangular white Carrara marble base with concave sides and cut corners with beautiful circular mottled ormolu feet. Three lightly curved ormolu supports lead upwards with unique double hoof feet with acanthus leaves and beaded designs below striking beautiful maiden faces and a superb scrolled serpent at the center intertwined around the baluster shaped central fut and leading to the white Carrara marble body. The body displays a striking pierced brule parfum like foliate rim with reeded and twisted ribbon wrap around bands with the arms seemingly growing upwards. Each of the fluted branch like arms are adorned with large richly chased acanthus leaves in a superb satin and burnished finish with scrolled Rinceau shaped designs adorned with charming swaging chains with elegant candlecups above centering a beautiful sprig of lovely finely detailed blooming flowers. All original gilt throughout.
