Pair of 19th Century French Louis XVI St. Bronze, Marble, and Ormolu Candelabras
About the Item
A charming and very high quality true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, patinated bronze, and Rouge Royale marble candelabras. Each large scale five arm candelabra is raised by a fine square ormolu base and elegant circular Rouge Royale marble pedestal support. At the center are the striking patinated bronze cherubs each draped in a wonderfully executed flowing garment. The cherub to the right has a boar’s head at his feet while the cherub to the left has a deer’s head at his feet while both are seemingly holding up the arms above. The larger arms display elegantly scrolled designs while the smaller ones are adorned in richly chased oak leaves and acorns with charming intricately detailed acorns all tied together with a ribbon and displaying circular candle cups. All original gilt and patina throughout.
