Highly decorated and collectable Delft fish plate with drip tray made by Royal Tichelaar, Friesland, the Netherlands. The underplate has an overall floral decoration in blue and white with a touch of manganese. Marked Royal Tichelaar under the base.
The drip tray rest on a tripod foot and is decorated with 3 fishes and on the other side an overal floral decoration with a touch of manganese.
The plates are handcrafted an painted and dated 1940s.
Condition: very good on the rim minor lost of tinglaze which I consider as a feature

Royal Tichelaar employs the traditional majolica technique, applying decoration onto the unfired tin glaze rather than beneath it. During firing, the pigments fuse slightly with the glaze surface, creating the soft, gently blurred outlines that are characteristic of this method.
