Early Marbro Urn Lamps with Green Painted Roman Ruins - a Pair
Located in Denver, CO
This early pair of Marbro urn table lamps feature beautiful Roman ruins, trees, plants and grasses. The urns are most likely Italian. They retain their original mogul base sockets (E39 lamp base) and electrical cord. Both have been inspected and are in good working order. The glazing has natural imperfections which happens during the firing process. These imperfections are not defects and are considered to be a part of the overall beauty of the lamps. Please see photos showing variances and imperfections. Measurements: 10-3/4"diameter at bulb, 6-3/4" width at porcelain base, 8" width lion paw foot to foot x 36" overall height. The Marbro Lamp Company began by Morris Markoff and his brother soon after the end of World War II. They were most well-known for their lamps, however, and it is their lamp products that continue to make an impact today. The Markoff brothers scoured the globe for gorgeous lamp parts...

Dutch Delft Faience Blue and White Chinoiserie Baluster Vase Mounted as a Lamp
Located in Kittery Point, ME
Late 17th Century Dutch Delft Faience Blue and White Chinoiserie Baluster Vase Mounted as a Lamp and newly electrified. Decorated in imitation of a Chinese Ming vase with a sage, rocks and vegetation, mounted on a wood base. The dimensions noted include the lampshade and electrical fittings. The vase as mounted in wood is approximately 10in. high and 6in. diameter. The arrival in Western Europe of the first shiploads of Chinese porcelain, lacquerware, ivory and silk in the 17th century stimulated interest in China, or Cathay, as it was then called. Europeans soon began copying the Chinese artworks and decorative objects. These decorative arts inspired by China, which enjoyed their heyday in the late 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries, are known as chinoiserie. Soon after the introduction of expensive Chinese...

The lamp is in very good condition. Signed under the base. circa 1960. --------------------------- Royal Boch is an earthenware factory located in La Louvière, Belgium. Founded in 1841, it markets its products under the name Keramis. The factory was founded in 1841 by Eugène and Victor Boch, descendants of a family of earthenware makers since the 18th century. Production, which began in 1844, grew rapidly. Kéramis took part in the Universal Exhibition in Paris. During the 19th century, Dutch craftsmen were hired. Charles Catteau was hired at the end of 1906 as a draughtsman (creation and painting of decorations) and quickly became head of the decoration department. Carcel 19th Century Petroleum Lamp on Canton Vase
Located in Marseille, FR
Lamp said to Carcel system mounted on China vase in Canton XIXth century. Bronze frame. This Carcel mechanism bears the name of its inventor Guillaume Carcel who, in 1800, developed his oil lamp (of rapeseed, for example) comprising a suction-repressing pump driven by a clockwork motor, which ensured the constant supply of the wick. The tank is no longer on the side: it is now under the burner. This floor lamp has a cylindrical wick burner and a movable glass holder to adjust the flame. The glass-chimney is throttled at the level of the flame. The Carcel lamp, deemed expensive and fragile, was reserved for a wealthy clientele. His widow and his son-in-law Mr. Zier, still held in 1821, the workshops and the shop at 8 rue de l'Arbre-Sec in Paris. This very expensive lamp is very fragile and was once considered a luxury model. Dimension 68 cm in height and 20 cm in diameter decorated with trees and flowers. This system is generally found on sheet metal lamps...

Fratelli Fanciullacci Majolica Table Lamp, Signed, Brown & Red Flower Reliefs
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Rare, unusual vintage majolica lamp features abstract graphic decor with large flower motifs, done in relief; the body is mounted on turned solid wood base. The upper part of urn-shaped ceramic body is accentuated with 6 symmetrically placed soft indentations, a common feature for Mid Century Modern glass and ceramic shapes; the strategic placement of the relief elements guides the eye along the complex shape of the lamp. The reliefs are hand-sculpted with light variations in shapes and forms of the leaves and petals and a few visible joint lines, further emphasizing organic, hand-made quality of the lamp. Muted, evocative color palette complements the textured decor and the sculptural body of the lamp without overpowering it. Bordeaux red and teal green glazes are used for the flowers and leaves; the mottled mocha and cappuccino brown background features linear plaid design in the same red color that is used on the relief elements, unifying the colors of the composition. The lamp is signed on the bottom with FF (for the manufacturer, Fratelli Fanciullacci) and ITALY. It is in good, fully operational vintage condition, with the new socket, brass fittings, and wiring. It stands 17" tall to the top of the socket, and 24.5" - to the top of the finial. It is missing an importer sticker; Fratelli Fanciullacci created variety of majolica lamps for various American importers, such as Raymor, Rosenthal Netter, Ebeling Reuss...
