Luxury chandelier, made from thinly-cut pieces of exquisite red-veined translucent onyx. Ideal to be hung over a table, with versatile configurations. This chandelier is truly spectacular, and uses onyx with dramatic red veining. While the red onyx gives a beautiful, sculptural look to the chandelier, it does reduce light output a little, so most of the light comes from the upper hole. This makes it ideal for ambient light or as a sculptural piece. This unique version is made with patina brass. Ivory onyx comes from Middle Eastern quarries and has a unique veining. This translucent stone is carefully worked in Italy, and was chosen because of its combination of interesting patterns, high translucency, and the way it makes the light output look warmer. Our onyx supplier has worked in many high-end architectural projects, and these same materials have been used at the Armani hotel in Milan. When he was shown the chandelier designs, he rose to the challenge and adapted his tooling to make us perfect round discs. He worked hard to find exactly the right thickness that would keep the depth of the texture. It could not be too thick, otherwise it would lose transparency. And too thin, it would look like it was printed. The result is stunning. The combination of carefully-worked translucent stone and brass works perfectly, and the use of the ingenious Orbitale structure allows the geometry of the chandelier to be played with, and it can be configured in several ways. There is nothing else like this on the market. The technical data are the same of the equivalent Sistema chandelier with the same number of shades. The Sistema collection uses a clever rotating stem structure and features a shallow drum-shaped shade at the end of each arm. The chandelier arms are designed with two lengths so that each can be staggered at different angles. They work well in any space and suit both regular and low-ceilinged rooms wonderfully. The 8-shade version is ideal to be hung over a long rectangular table. Please see the drawing to get an idea of sizes for the different chandeliers. On the upper side of each disc there is a smaller opening to provide ambient light. Top-quality LEDs with over 80 CRI, meaning that the lighting does not alter the color of food and people. The LEDs are on a 24V direct current feed, so there is no flickering. The arms can be rotated 180 degrees to configure various combinations. As well as two rows of evenly-spaced lights over a dining table, a regular 8-shade star or 4-shade star (see photos) are possible, as well as creative sculptural shapes. The arms can be rotated even when the chandelier is lit. The shades can also be rotated on the arm axis to meet any lighting needs in a living room (paintings, bookshelves etc.). While it is often thought of as the black gemstone capable of transforming negative energy in positive energy, onyx is in fact a multicolor stone resulting from the metamorphism of limestone rich in Magnesium and Calcium, a process that takes thousands of years. During these years, climate change, natural disasters and wildlife have contributed to the various colors of each layer of sediments. In its primary stage, the rock does not reveal its beauty. However, once it is cut, carved, shaped and polished, the outcome is breathtaking. There is simply no designer like Mother Earth herself. We have been very grateful to visit two workshops where the stones are sliced, cut, carved, or otherwise shaped into their final forms. Watching these artisans covered in thick layers of dust, handling these blocks of stone was truly fascinating. A Word About the Onyx Lamps An onyx lamp is intrinsically beautiful. But when the light comes on, words cannot describe the magic. Pictures cannot capture its beauty. Our business is known primarily for selling the entire collection of Serge Mouille lighting in the USA. In our journey to find another exciting lighting product, we could not have found lamps that are more contrasting to the Mouille lamps. The onyx lamp is translucent and colorful, heavy, centered and stable, the perfect ambient lamp. The Mouille lamp on the other hand is elongated, thin, elegant, either black or white, weighs less than a feather and diffuses a bright functional light. Yet, they are both organic, eye-catching, gorgeous, and timeless. In fact, they complement each other very well.
