Monolite, Brass and Ivory-toned Onyx sculptural chandelier, Piattelli Design

About the Item

The Monolite is a unique brass and ivory-toned onyx chandelier designed by Silvio Piattelli. It combines classical materials with modern design to create a truly timeless piece. The onyx has been carefully chosen in quarries in the Middle East for its unique veining, high translucency, and enhancement of the warmth of light output. Crafted lovingly in Italy, the rectangular “monolithic” shades appear as one whole piece of stone, giving the fixture a very special, otherworldly feel. The onyx shades on the ends of the arms can rotate, allowing for endless possibilities when it comes to adjusting the geometry of the chandelier. You can create different groupings and clusters of arms, making it the perfect piece for any setting or occasion. The Monolite is also versatile enough to illuminate any space, and the standard version includes a state-of-the-art non-flickering dimmable driver that is hosted in the canopy, ensuring the perfect amount of light without any annoying flickering. Each shade has a 175 cm (29.5 inch) specially manufactured LED strip with a state-of-the-art 200 lumens per watt. The chandelier uses 105 watts and has a native light output of almost 19,000 lumens. The onyx reduces that by a third and warms the native 4000K LED, so the result is an actual omnidirectional light output of 10-12,000 lumens and 2700 K. The Monolite is the perfect fixture to take your home furnishings to the next level and make a bold statement.

Unique chandelier, made from thinly-cut pieces of exquisite ivory-toned translucent onyx. Ideal to be hung over a table, with versatile configurations. Ivory onyx comes from Middle Eastern quarries and has a unique veining. This translucent stone is carefully worked in Italy, and was chosen because of its combination of interesting patterns, high translucency, and the way it makes the light output look warmer. The 6-shade version is ideal to be hung over an oval dining table. Our onyx supplier has worked in many high-end architectural projects, and these same materials have been used at the Armani hotel in Milan. When he was shown the chandelier designs, he rose to the challenge and adapted his tooling to make us perfect round discs. He worked hard to find exactly the right thickness that would keep the depth of the texture. It could not be too thick, otherwise it would lose transparency. And too thin, it would look like it was printed. The result is stunning. The combination of carefully-worked translucent stone and brass works perfectly, and the use of the ingenious Orbitale structure allows the geometry of the chandelier to be played with, and it can be configured in several ways. There is nothing else like this on the market. The Sistema collection uses a clever rotating stem structure and features a shallow drum-shaped shade at the end of each arm. The chandelier arms are designed with two lengths so that each can be staggered at different angles. They work well in any space and suit both regular and low-ceilinged rooms wonderfully. Please see the drawing to get an idea of sizes for the different chandeliers. On the upper side of each disc there is a smaller opening to provide ambient light. Top-quality LEDs with over 80 CRI, meaning that the lighting does not alter the color of food and people. The LEDs are on a 24V direct current feed, so there is no flickering. The arms can be rotated 180 degrees to configure various combinations. As well as two rows of evenly-spaced lights over a dining table, a regular 8-shade star or 4-shade star (see photos) are possible, as well as creative sculptural shapes. The arms can be rotated even when the chandelier is lit. The shades can also be rotated on the arm axis to meet any lighting needs in a living room (paintings, bookshelves etc.). This listing shows the smallest drop. A change of drop is complimentary. Silvio Piattelli copyright and design. Specifications (Note: The Sistema chandelier has glass shades, while Sistema Solare...

This chandelier uses an ingenious rotating stem structure and features a shallow drum-shaped shade at the end of each arm. The chandelier arms are designed with two lengths so that each can be staggered at different angles. They work well in any space and suit both regular and low-ceilinged rooms wonderfully. The result is uniform lighting from above the dining table. There is nothing else like this on the market. There are beautiful chandeliers available, but they always tend to give out too much light in the center and too little at either side. This is the largest Sistema chandelier with 4 arms and 8 shades. Ideal for a long rectangular dining table. Each shade has two LED strips that can be lit separately. In this way you can have either a regular light or a stronger light depending on how you need to use the chandelier. The LEDs are top quality with a CRI of over 80. This ensures that the natural color of food and people can be seen perfectly. See the next to last photo, where there is some fruit and a color chart below the chandelier. The LEDs are on a 24V direct current feed, so there is no flickering. The arms can rotate 180 degrees, for many possible combinations. See the drawing for the two regular positions. The chandelier can also be rotated when it is lit. The shades can be rotated on the arm axis to meet any lighting needs in a living room (paintings, bookshelves etc.). The shades have neutral white glass fixtures. Please see the photos. On the back there is a smaller Lucite opening for giving ambient light. The chandelier has the ingenious brass finishes of the orbitale collection. This listing shows measurements for a dining table and the smallest drop. A change of drop is complimentary. Please see the last image for all sizes and ask for high resolution technical drawings if you need them. Please see the drawing to get an idea of sizes for the different chandeliers.
