About the Item
The Monolite is a unique brass and ivory-toned onyx chandelier designed by Silvio Piattelli. It combines classical materials with modern design to create a truly timeless piece. The onyx has been carefully chosen in quarries in the Middle East for its unique veining, high translucency, and enhancement of the warmth of light output. Crafted lovingly in Italy, the rectangular “monolithic” shades appear as one whole piece of stone, giving the fixture a very special, otherworldly feel.
The onyx shades on the ends of the arms can rotate, allowing for endless possibilities when it comes to adjusting the geometry of the chandelier. You can create different groupings and clusters of arms, making it the perfect piece for any setting or occasion.
The Monolite is also versatile enough to illuminate any space, and the standard version includes a state-of-the-art non-flickering dimmable driver that is hosted in the canopy, ensuring the perfect amount of light without any annoying flickering.
Each shade has a 175 cm (29.5 inch) specially manufactured LED strip with a state-of-the-art 200 lumens per watt. The chandelier uses 105 watts and has a native light output of almost 19,000 lumens. The onyx reduces that by a third and warms the native 4000K LED, so the result is an actual omnidirectional light output of 10-12,000 lumens and 2700 K.
The Monolite is the perfect fixture to take your home furnishings to the next level and make a bold statement.

Sistema Solare, Luxury Ivory Onyx and Brass 8 Rotating Orbitale Arms Chandelier
By Stilnovo, Bruno Gatta, Silvio Piattelli
Located in Tavarnelle val di Pesa, Florence
Luxury chandelier, made from thin pieces of translucent onyx. Ideal to be hung over a dining table, with versatile configurations. Featured on Netflix series Designing Miami, 1st episode!
There is nothing else like this on the market.
Ivory onyx comes from Middle Eastern quarries and has a unique veining. This translucent stone is carefully worked in Italy, and was chosen because of its combination of interesting patterns, high translucency, and the way it makes the light output look warmer.
The 8-shade version is ideal to be hung over a long rectangular table. See schematics.
Our onyx supplier has worked in many high-end architectural projects, and these same materials have been used at the Armani hotel in Milan. When he was shown the chandelier designs, he rose to the challenge and adapted his tooling to make us perfect round discs. He worked hard to find exactly the right thickness that would keep the depth of the texture. It could not be too thick, otherwise it would lose transparency. And too thin, it would look like it was printed.
The result is stunning. The combination of carefully-worked translucent stone and brass works perfectly, and the use of the ingenious Orbitale structure allows the geometry of the chandelier to be played with, and it can be configured in several ways.
The Sistema collection uses a clever rotating stem structure and features a shallow drum-shaped shade at the end of each arm.
The chandelier arms are designed with two lengths so that each can be staggered at different angles. They work well in any space and suit both regular and low-ceilinged rooms wonderfully.
Please see the drawing to get an idea of sizes for the different chandeliers. On the upper side of each disc there is a smaller opening to provide ambient light.
Top-quality LEDs with over 80 CRI, meaning that the lighting does not alter the color of food and people.
The LEDs are on a 24V direct current feed, so there is no flickering. The arms can be rotated 180 degrees to configure various combinations. As well as two rows of evenly-spaced lights over a dining table, a regular 8-shade star or 4-shade star (see photos) are possible, as well as creative sculptural shapes. The arms can be rotated even when the chandelier is lit.
The shades can also be rotated on the arm axis to meet any lighting needs in a living room (paintings, bookshelves etc.).
