Antique Serpentine French Marquetry Cabinet Kingwood Marble Ormolu Napoleon III
Located in London, GB
A magnificent, gorgeous and lavishly decorative antique French kingwood inlaid marquetry serpentine cabinet with marble top. Dating from around the 1920s and made in the Napoleon III style, this stunning and practical scene-stealer makes a very useful cabinet and will enhance any setting with its fabulously ornamental and luxurious bygone Gallic aesthetic. Impressively sized, wonderfully multi-toned and having a beautifully flowing and rare serpentine shape with substantial rounded front corners and feet, this show-stopping cabinet is adorned throughout with rich golden kingwood veneer interspersed with wonderfully intricate floral and border inlays of boxwood and other multi-toned woods. It has a heavy and shapely chamfered white marble top with pale grey and pink striations, which is not fixed but sits perfectly on top. The cabinet is finished with highly decorative and eye-catching gilt ormolu metalwork embellishments. The hours of exacting work taken to craft such a fabulous piece is staggering to think about. As well as being such an attractive piece it is also very practical, having a large upper drawer with ormolu pulls and a door revealing two shelves. All in all this is a gorgeous, stunning and practical antique French marquetry cabinet...

George III English Satinwood & Banded Bow Fronted Chest Commode Circa 1790
Located in Norwich, GB
A superb George III satinwood bow fronted four drawer chest/commode. English. Circa 1790. The commode chest has four long graduated drawers over a shaped apron, on splayed feet. It retains the original brass handles, which is rare. Veneered over solid oak in the finest quarter-sawn satinwood, banded in rosewood and mahogany, with boxwood stringing throughout. It has has been sympathetically re-finished, still retaining some authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. To the left hand side near the back there is some slight damage to the banding and a small piece of veneer has been re-glued back on near the escutcheon of the third drawer down. Please refer to the photographs. The drawers are lined in oak with handmade dovetail construction. The drawer sides have had slivers of oak added to make the drawers run better. The underside of the top has neat butterfly construction to the oak join, always a sign of a well made piece. There is no woodworm. Originally a commode occupied a prominent position in a house, not always for bedroom use...

Antique Carved Wooden Mould Ex. Tucker Collection
Located in Wormelow, Herefordshire
A mounted antique carved wooden mould from the Tucker collection. This is one of many moulds we are selling from this vast collection assembled by British make-up artist, Christopher Tucker. Dating from the late 18th to mid 19th centuries, this wooden mould has been exceptionally hand carved by talented Victorian artisans, these elaborate details originally used to cast details in composition for the frames of pictures and paintings. This mould is inscribed with design number 4968 to the front and features a beautiful design deeply carved into the wood. This results in a highly ornate and precise compo embellishment that appears as though it has been carved rather than cast. The wooden mould comes with an accompanying custom-made steel display stand. Christopher Tucker Christopher Tucker (1941-2022) was an award-winning British make-up artist, specialising in prosthetics for theatre and film. Over his vast career, Tucker worked on a number of famous film and theatrical sets, creating prosthetics for the likes of The Phantom of the Opera, Star Wars and The Company of Wolves as well as the spectacular transformation of John Hurt into The Elephant Man. Following Tucker’s death in 2022, his expansive collection of film memorabilia...

Located in Milan, IT
17th century Crucifix Measures: Boxwood, 42 cm high x 8 x 14 The sculpture depicting the crucified Christ examined here represents a refined example of seventeenth-century cabinetry in boxwood. The figure of Christ, now dead on the cross, is part of a precious artistic choreography with the structure of the cross and its pedestal, both decorated with tortoiseshell mirrors, ivory threads to emphasize the structure of the cross and elements in ebonized and carved wood to highlight the architectural structure of the pedestal. The departure of Christ is evident from the lowered head, from the open hands...
