Marine Corps pennant, made of heavy felt with a dark blue ground, with a flocked (Silvet-painted) device and lettering in harvest gold, with an applied, gold felt binding and blue felt ties.
The colors used to represent the Marine Corps changed over time. Though the present combination of scarlet red and gold were formally adopted in 1925, American military traditions die hard, tending to be as difficult to extinguish as the men and women of their ranks.
