Vintage western wear cowboy four piece "Ranger" belt ensemble; consisting of a marked sterling silver buckle and two belt "keepers" with a planished sterling silver tail; all assembled on a high quality finely grained medium brown leather lizard belt; which will accommodate sizes 34 through 38" comfortably. Best known for his Southwestern high quality designs, the belt was handcrafted by world famous silversmith, Paul Scibienski in 1995 who, has been in business for 40 years. Scibienski and his daughter provided luxury hand crafted items such as western cowboy style buckles for Alexander Kalifano; the latter having Scottsdale Arizona jewelry and gemstones handcrafted business roots since 1912. He was able to brand the high end exotic quality goods to luxury markets such as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. The belt ensemble is in excellent and all original condition with very little wear. The belt measures 40" from the end of the buckle to the first hole of which there are five; each spaced an 1" apart. The 1 1/4" belt tapers down to a 1" billet to facilitate a "planished in place" sterling silver tail piece to move easily through the sterling keeper. The tail, buckle, and "keeper" are in completely all original condition with no restoration of any kind. This is a handsome pair of antique Victorian mahogany and leather club armchairs, circa 1880 in date. This lovely pair was made from masterly crafted hand-carved solid mahogany with an interesting hand-carved crest of a bird on top of each. They have been reupholstered in a sumptuous chocolate brown leather with button backs and stand on their original brass and porcelain castors. Mahogany is probably one of the largest ‘families’ of hardwood, having many different varieties within its own species. Mahogany has been used for centuries in ship building, house building, furniture making etc and is the core structure of just about every 19th century vanity box, dressing case or jewelry box. It became more of a Victorian trend to dress mahogany with these decorative veneers, such as burr walnut and coromandel, so that the actual mahogany was almost hidden from view. Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant, figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although mahogany was most often used in its solid form, it also provided some beautifully figured varieties of veneer like ‘flame’ mahogany and ‘fiddleback’ mahogany (named after its preferred use in the manufacture of fine musical instruments). FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING Vanity Box by Mappin & Webb in Coromandel with Sterling Silver dated 1854. The vanity box is of rectangular form extensively veneered in exotic coromandel and edged throughout with brass, incorporating double brass stringing to both the lid and front with a raised escutcheon to the centre. Opening the vanity box reveals a complete fitted interior comprising seventeen glass bottles topped with engraved sterling silver lids hallmarked for James Vickery, London, 1854. The quality of silver mounted fittings reflects the mid nineteenth century standard expected from a luxury retailer such as Mappin & Webb. The front panel folds down to reveal wing compartments which pivot outward through 180 degrees. Within sits a comprehensive mother of pearl handled tool pad incorporating a shoehorn, penknife, thread hook, multiple pairs of scissors, tweezers, file, needle and pricker. Beneath the tool pad is a concealed compartment accessed by depressing the retailer’s plaque positioned along the rear edge of the case. The retailer’s plaque reads: Mappin & Webb, Sheffield 158 to 162 Oxford Street & Mansion House Buildings London. With the wings extended, additional concealed drawers can be accessed by removing the rectangular jars positioned to the rear and depressing the back edge of each compartment base, activating a spring loaded latch mechanism. The underside of the lid houses a removable mirror bordered with gold tooling, designed to stand independently on its bracket.
