Wonderful Early 19th-Century Regency Mahogany Sarcophagus Wine Cooler or Cellarette A superb early 19th-century Regency period mahogany wine cooler, or cellarette, of sarcophagus form, crafted in striking flame Cuban mahogany and retaining its original removable zinc lined interior. Of coffered, architectural design, the piece features reeded and canted corners with inset panelled sides on all four faces, creating a strong, elegant silhouette. It is raised on bold, finely carved lion’s paw feet, and still standing on the original brass castors, allowing it to be moved with ease. Inside, the original zinc (or lead) liner with a pair of brass swan neck handles remains intact, a mark of both quality and authenticity.
