This full-length oar, painted in Eton's pale blue with gilded lettering, measures just over 12 feet and is a classic example of the commemorative oars traditionally presented to college rowing crews. The blade features elegant 19th-century script listing the names and weights of the 1874 Eton crew. A beautiful and authentic antique oar, presented in original condition, it represents a fine and historic piece of Eton and Henley rowing heritage. It was possibly the former property of A.J. Mulholland or T.C. Edwards-Moss, as a second oar from the same source is available separately and bears the pair's names. Both men later rowed for Oxford University in the Boat Race, with Mulholland competing once (1877) and Edwards-Moss four times (1875-78).
