We are delighted to this very rare midcentury circa 1900s suite of fully restored Chesterfield armchairs with sofa with Famboo frame work
A very desirable and highly collectable suite, the frames are all hand carved from mahogany and are what’s called Famboo which is fake bamboo, in the Regency era at the beginning of the 1800’s Chinese influences for style and design with regards to all walks of life, clothing, pottery and furniture were well and truly incorporating themselves into high society here in England, as such our finest furniture makers like Thomas Chippendale and Gillows were looking to make their own pieces using inspiration from the east, the most popular designs of the day for the furniture were this type of Famboo furniture, they were the height of style, design and sophistication of the day
We have fully restored the suite to include a wash back and complete French polish to all the timber, the leather has been stripped back then hand dyed this lovely deep cigar brown colour, lastly all the base covers have been replaced with thick jute hessian and hand nail tacked in place using Victorian...
