Ubald Klug designed this rare modular DS-1025 "Terrazza" sofa as a real living landscape. Each element recalls a terrace-like, stepped slope with different widths and depths. A valley or a mountain can appear depending on how the individual modules are assembled. The "Terrazza" was recreated thanks to the De Sede manufacturer and its ability to transform high-quality leather into seating furniture. This multi-layered upholstered relief invites people to sit or lie down, combining durability and comfort with a unique design.
After training at the Art and Design College in Zurich, Ulbald Klug (1932) gained further experience in architectural practices in Zurich and Helsinki. Paris has been his sphere of activity since 1966, when he founded his architecture and interior design bureau. When it came to developing the DS-808 for de Sede, this sensitive approach –
with its focus on fully understanding the material – proved to be extremely valuable. While working with leather in a practical way, the designers found a way to push
the boundaries of the material in a playful manner – and to clearly place the unmis- takable hallmarks of classic leather design in the here and now. The leather is laid over the structure like a throw. The end of each square pouffe forms a dynamic wave, which makes the heavy material appear fluid and light.

Now, nearly 45 years later, we are celebrating its comeback.

Carried by the sweeping serpentines of the river, the idea for a sculpture that fuses into one form was born in the London studio near the Thames. The masterpiece DS-707 is a homage to classic de Sede designs and was created for the future.
