Threshold Stool in Solid Oak by Theodora Alfredsdottir Dimensions: D 35 x W 40 x H 45 cm. Materials: Solid oak seat, veneer formed legs Finish: Matt oil Compact seating piece developed through the same form language as the bench. A quiet meeting point between coming and going - a place to drop your bag, tie your shoes, or simply take a moment before stepping into what’s next. Designed as both a bench and a stool, the forms share a dialogue of soft veneer formed curves and a single precise cut running through the solid seat. Made from oak, the surfaces reveal subtle traces of making. Theodora Alfredsdottir is a product design studio based in London. Theodora is an Icelandic product designer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in product design from the Iceland Academy of the Arts (2012) and a master’s degree in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in London (2015). Storytelling through objects; Theodora’s work revolves around the narrative an object can inhabit and exploring ways of objectifying that narrative. She's interested in the way an object can act as documentation of its manufacturing process; a record of what went on between the machine, tools, craftsman and material as well as it can communicate its origin and former life. In short, the object creates its own factual narrative. That often leads to the discovery of unexpected qualities as well as it gives the user a subtle opportunity to reconsider our material world and explore value in a different way.
