The Imperial Canopy: An Antique Indian Agra Palatial Masterpiece of Majesty

Located in Dallas, TX

76918 Antique Indian Agra Rug, 23'00 x 23'07. The Imperial Canopy: An Antique Indian Agra Palatial Masterpiece of Majesty. Woven in the early 20th century, this hand knotted wool oversized antique Indian Agra rug embodies the grandeur of a tradition shaped by royal ateliers and Mughal patronage. Agra carpets were conceived for palatial settings, where scale and artistry worked in harmony to define entire interiors. This exquisite work of art carries that legacy with unmistakable presence—an expansive composition that speaks to connoisseurs who seek distinction through rarity, provenance, and commanding visual impact. The exceptional field unfolds as a vast ornamental landscape, where blooming palmettes anchor a rhythmic arrangement of stylized florals and scrolling vines. Undulating cloudbands weave through the striking composition, introducing a celestial dimension that evokes movement across an infinite horizon. Birds appear throughout this garden, symbols of freedom, prosperity, and spiritual ascent, their presence lending vitality to the design. Curled tendrils and floral sprays extend in every direction, creating a continuous arabesque flow that feels both deliberate and expansive. This intricate network of iconic motifs forms a visual language rooted in abundance and renewal. Palmettes signify growth and flourishing life, while blossoms suggest seasonal return and enduring vitality. The interplay of vine and form reflects the concept of an eternal garden—an environment where order and beauty exist in perfect balance. Each element is carefully placed, contributing to a unified composition that feels immersive, as though one were stepping into a cultivated world shaped by artistic vision and cultural depth. Encasing the stunning field, a Shah Abbas palmette border establishes a stately frame, its repeating forms echoing the richness within while introducing a sense of structure. Meander guard borders flank this outer band, guiding the eye with a flowing cadence that reinforces continuity. Together, these elements complete a work of remarkable scale and presence. In a distinguished interior, this extraordinary masterpiece becomes more than a furnishing—it becomes an environment, a statement of elevated taste, and a lasting emblem of refined living. Rendered in variegated shades of tan, ecru, sand, ink blue, navy blue, cerulean, rose, mauve, brick red, taupe, camel, brown, sage, verdigris, saffron, goldenrod, and accent colors. Abrash. Hand knotted wool. Made in India. Hotel Lobby Size Carpet 23 x 24 Rug...

19th-20th Century Orientalist Terracotta Bust of Girl Attributed to Goldscheider

By Goldscheider Manufactory of Vienna

Located in Los Angeles, CA

An Austrian 19th-20th century Orientalist terracotta bust of a young girl in Middle-Eastern Garb. The young smiling beauty wearing a head scaft and shawl tied with a broche-pin brooch pin and jewlry around her neck, raised on a circular ebonized wood stand. Probably by Friedrich Goldscheider (Goldscheider'sche Porzellan-Manufactur und Majolica-Fabrik) - The backside stamped: "T - No. 258". circa 1900. The Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory (German: Goldscheider'sche Porzellan-Manufactur und Majolica-Fabrik, (now) Goldscheider Keramik) is an Austrian ceramic manufactory. In 1885, Friedrich Goldscheider came from the small Bohemian city of Pilsen to Vienna and founded the Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory. It became one of the most influential ceramic manufactories of terracotta, faience and bronze objects in Austria with subsidiaries in Paris, Leipzig and Florence. For over half a century Goldscheider created masterpieces of historical revivalism, Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) and Art Deco. Famous artists such as Josef Lorenzl, Stefan Dakon, Ida Meisinger and the two perhaps best known Austrian ceramic artists Michael Powolny and Vally Wieselthier worked for Goldscheider. Several of the artists who worked for Goldscheider also worked for other Viennese studios, such as Augarten, Keramos or for the German brands Rosenthal and Meissen. The Goldscheider family emigrated in 1938 to United Kingdom and USA. Walter Goldscheider startet a new factory in Trenton, New Jersey and returned to Vienna in 1950. Marcel Goldscheider went to Stoke-on-Trent and produced figurative ceramics for Myott and opened his own studio in the 1950s in Hanley. Both brothers died in the early 1960s. More than 10,000 different models were created over a period of three generations. Since the very beginning many of these won first prizes and gold medals at innumerable world fairs, exhibitions and trade fairs. Goldscheider figures...
