Beautiful Middle Eastern Moorish decorative tray vide poche catchall. Unique, one of a kind, very collectible. Dimensions: 10 inches diameter. Hand made Circa 1940's. Restored, polished. The tray is made from high-quality brass, a durable and malleable metal that lends itself well to the creation of intricate patterns and designs. The surface of the tray is adorned with a variety of motifs inspired by Islamic art, such as geometric patterns, arabesques, calligraphy, and floral designs. Islamic brass metalwork, including brass trays, is an intricate and beautiful form of art that originated in the Islamic world. It encompasses a wide range of decorative objects made from brass or other metals such as copper, bronze, and silver. Brass trays, in particular, are highly regarded for their craftsmanship and intricate designs. This polished Middle Eastern Asian brass tray is a stunning piece of traditional craftsmanship that showcases the rich artistic heritage of Morocco. It is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans who specialize in metalwork and imbue each tray with intricate designs and meticulous attention to detail. The tray typically features a circular or rectangular shape, with a slightly raised rim to prevent items from sliding off. The brass material is carefully worked to achieve a smooth and shiny surface, which is then polished to a lustrous finish, enhancing the natural beauty of the metal. One of the distinguishing features of a polished Moroccan brass tray is its exquisite engraving and filigree work. The artisans skillfully carve intricate patterns, geometric motifs, or elaborate floral designs onto the surface of the tray. These designs are often inspired by traditional Moorish architecture, Islamic art, or nature, and reflect the cultural and artistic influences of the region. The tray's design may also incorporate delicate perforations, allowing light to pass through and casting beautiful patterns when the tray is placed in the sunlight. This adds an extra element of visual interest and elegance to the overall aesthetic. In addition to the craftsmanship, the tray is often adorned with decorative elements such as brass studs, metal handles, or ornate feet, further enhancing its visual appeal and functionality. These embellishments are carefully integrated into the design, creating a harmonious and balanced composition. Polished Islamic brass trays are not only decorative but also serve practical purposes. They can be used as serving trays for food and drinks, as decorative display pieces on tables or walls, or as centerpieces for special occasions or gatherings. Their versatility and timeless beauty make them a popular choice for interior design, adding an exotic touch to a wide range of settings. Overall, a polished Moorish brass tray is a testament to the skill and artistry of the artisans metalwork craftsmen. Its combination of intricate designs, polished surfaces, and decorative elements creates a captivating piece that embodies the rich cultural heritage of the Middle East and serves as a stunning focal point in any space. Great to add to your Moroccan room or Islamic decor.

Antique Persian Khatam Marquetry Qalamdan Pen Box with Hand-Painted Equestrian Miniature, Circa 1940s An exceptional Persian Khatamkari Qalamdan (pen box), handcrafted in the celebrated tradition of Khatam-kari, one of the most prestigious decorative arts of Persia. Dating to the 1940s, this elegant rectangular sliding-lid pen case is meticulously decorated with intricate geometric micro-mosaic marquetry and crowned with a finely executed hand-painted miniature depicting a royal equestrian polo match. Traditionally used by Middle Eastern Persian scribes, scholars, and government officials to store reed pens, writing instruments, and inks, the Qalamdan became an important symbol of education, refinement, and artistic patronage. This example beautifully illustrates the marriage of functionality and exceptional craftsmanship that defines Persian decorative arts. The top lid features a richly detailed miniature painting portraying mounted horsemen pursuing deer across a stylized landscape, rendered in vibrant colors with remarkable attention to detail. The sides are decorated with exquisite Khatam marquetry, an ancient Persian micro-mosaic technique composed of thousands of tiny pieces of wood, bone, and metal meticulously assembled into intricate geometric star patterns. The interior is finished in black lacquer, while the sliding cover operates smoothly, preserving the elegant proportions characteristic of traditional Persian Qalamdans. Khatamkari has been practiced in Persia for over four centuries and remains one of the country's most labor-intensive and highly respected crafts. Similar geometric inlay traditions later spread throughout India, where they became known as Sadeli mosaic, influencing Indo-Persian and Anglo-Indian decorative arts. The extraordinary precision of the geometric patterns reflects the Islamic artistic ideals of harmony, symmetry, and infinite design. Originally intended as a writing case, this versatile piece also serves beautifully today as a jewelry box, keepsake box, pencil case, or luxury desk accessory. It is equally suited for display in a library, study, or curated collection of Islamic and Middle Eastern decorative arts.
