Peruvian Baroque Cedar Dining Suite, Circa 1930 A rare and imposing Peruvian dining suite dating from approximately 1930, handcrafted in solid cedar and retaining its rich original darkened patina acquired through decades of natural aging. Comprising a monumental dining table, four matching chairs, and two stools, the ensemble embodies the enduring influence of the Spanish Colonial Baroque tradition in Peru during the early twentieth century. The suite is distinguished by its remarkable hand-worked surfaces, featuring a deeply textured hammered finish that animates the wood with subtle variations of light and shadow. The substantial pedestal base displays carved recessed decorative fields executed directly into the timber, framed by architectural forms that emphasize the strength and permanence of the design. Baroque influence is further expressed through the applied volute ornaments positioned at the lower extremities of the pedestal supports.
