An authentic silver denarius coin with a depiction of the Roman Imperial eagle standing, minted during the realm of the emperor Vespasian in 69-79 AD, is set in a simple matte-finish line textured handmade bezel designed by Steven Battelle. The Roman eagle was a symbol of imperial power, representing courage, strength and immortality. The eagle remains one of the most famous animal symbols associated with ancient Rome today. Most famously, the eagle, or aquila, was featured on the standard of the Roman Legions. The opposite side of this denarius silver coin (which was approximately a daily wage in those times) is a side view of the emperor Vespasian, who ruled for 27 years.
