Ancient Roman Cameo High Karat Gold Ring

About the Item

Roman Empire, 2nd – 3rd century A.D. This massive solid gold ring with broad shoulders is of a very fine workmanship. The ring is crafted in high karat gold (about 24K). It is centered with a conical banded three layer agate superbly carved with a cameo of a goddess (likely Minerva, the goddess of wisdom). Her hair is elaborately styled and adorned with a double stephane (tiara). The ring comes with a metal analysis report: Au (gold) 98.44%, Cu (copper) 1.06%, Ag (silver) 0.49%. The cameo measures 14 x 12 mm. Weight is 15.22 grams. Ring size 7.5 (resizable) All original, intact and wearable.

This Toi et Moi ring is a one-of-a-kind piece carefully crafted in yellow gold of 18 karats following the ancient jewelry craftsmanship techniques, with polished finish. It is embellished at the ends with a pair of ancient (100 BC) Roman cabochon carvings of natural red-orange agate. Both gemstones have a total weight of about 9.55 carats and are in excellent polished shape, with great saturation and transparency.
