Antique Georgian Long Gold Chain, Necklace and Bracelets, Circa 1820
Located in London, GB
A Georgian long gold chain, of belcher links with a repeat zig-zag pattern. This chain has three barrel clasps and can also be worn as a shorter necklace and two bracelets or one bracelet and a medium length chain, mounted in 18ct gold, circa 1820. This style of Georgian or Regency chain was at its height of popularity between 1800 and 1840. The Napoleonic wars had lead to a scarcity of gold, therefore jewellers designed pieces that had as much impact as possible, whilst utilising smaller quantities of gold. The chains are hand made, with the patterns being produced by stamping thin gold sheet, which were then curved lengthways and soldered together to form oval or round belcher links. From 1848 onwards more gold deposits were discovered, this lead to increases in weight of chains and had a strong influence on jewellery design in the Victorian period. The chunky look and delicate feel is distinguishes Georgian chains from Victorian examples. With thanks to Navette Jewellery

Georgian Berlin Iron Button Bracelet Gothic Design
Located in Stamford, CT
Berlin Iron has been a passion of collectors for hundreds of years and of this dealer, but not that long, and this Gothic bracelet is no exception. The graceful curves, the spires, the spikes, the appearance of lace in iron, the complexity, the history and the elegance of design is enough reason for collectors to share my passion. As with all antique jewelry prices have swooped up and come down. They reached a pinnacle where collectors paid exalted prices to own a piece. Well warranted as they are rare found mostly in museums around the world and sometimes in fragments. This is an early, c. 1800 German...
