This exquisite desk object was crafted in France during the early 20th Century and would have been an impressive object to own. The desk seal is crafted from a cigar shaped piece of black onyx which features a diamond set collar to one end and a monogram intaglio 'seal' to the other, all circa 1915. The monogram is 'AMF' which has been beautifully engraved into the underside of the seal. The piece retains its original Morocco leather fitted box signed 'Appay', a French manufacturer, and embossed 'AMF' to the top of the lid. The firm Appay were retailing at 24 Rue De La Paix in Paris which is close-by the Place Vendome and also the Opera, however little information is known about the business. Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold this ring is from one of Cartier's most iconic collections, 'Love'. Originally designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1969 first as the 'Love' bracelet, the range has since grown to encompass earrings, rings, bracelets and neckwear. This relatively modern iteration of the 'Love' ring was probably crafted during the 21st Century and is an unusually large ring size, suitable for men, or ladies with a larger finger size. The original 'Love' bangle was designed in two parts with screws that locked the piece onto the wearer's arm, similar to how a chastity belt functioned, with the idea that the spouse would retain the screwdriver that could remove the piece, in essence locking their loved one to them. These Love bands have become a cult classic and are often worn by men and women globally as wedding bands. This matched earring and ring suite have been crafted from 18 karat white gold and are set with rubies and diamonds. The ring centres on an oval cut African red ruby which weighs 1.70 carat that is surrounded by ten brilliant cut diamonds. There are a further three diamonds to each shoulder of the ring, each being princess cut. Each of the diamonds in the ring are of H/I colour and VS clarity totalling 1.60 carat. We love versatile jewellery and this suite is extremely wearable in that it can adorn the body in three ways. The suite comprises a four strand necklace of individually knotted akoya pearls with a matched four strand bracelet, and a detachable citrine and diamond enhancer which can be worn on the necklace, the bracelet, and also as a singular pendant. The citrine and diamond enhancer has been set in 14 karat yellow gold and slides onto the clasp of the necklace and the bracelet, held in place with a figure of 8 safety catch. The necklace and bracelet both feature the same style 14 karat gold tongue and box clasp which are both working well and are secure. The citrine and diamond pendant can also be worn as a pendant on a fine chain via the small gold bale attached to the gold mounting. The necklace has been designed so that the detachable enhancer sits to the side, but can also be worn without the enhancer and the plain gold clasp worn to the back of the neck out of sight. A delightfully versatile suite which presents old world class and charm.
