Patrick Parrish is excited to offer an incredible group of original photographs printed by Meisel Photochrome Corporation of Dallas around 1970, shortly after the Apollo 11 Mission. Meisel was the official photo contractor for NASA and processed all the images from the Apollo missions. These beautiful vintage 8” x 8” chromogenic prints on Kodak paper are framed in a 13" x 13" frames and currently available at the gallery. NASA’s historic Apollo 11 Mission—crewed by astronauts Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, and commander Neil Armstrong—departed earth on July 16th, 1969, and landed on the moon four days later, near the Sea of Tranquility, while 500 million people watched on television. Armstrong and Aldrin spent two and a half hours exploring the surface of the moon, collecting samples and taking photographs. The camera they used was a modified 70mm Hasselblad lunar surface camera, designed specifically for the event. During the Mission, nine magazines of 70mm film were exposed, providing panoramic views of the surface near the lunar module...

Lux Interior The Cramps circa early 1980s: Stunning vintage original darkroom photograph of the legendary Lux Interior - the legendary punk and rock music icon & lead singer of The Cramps. Silver gelatin print. Dimensions: 8 x 10 inches. Circa early 1980s. Minor signs of handling. Good to very good overall vintage condition. Unsigned from unknown photographer. "The Cramps were a wonderfully wild 'n' wacky punk alternative psychobilly rock 'n' roll band. The group was first formed by lead singer Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy Rorschach in 1976 in New York City (Interior and Ivy initially crossed paths in Sacramento, California in 1972). The other original band members were drummer Miriam Linna and guitarist Bryan Gregory. The Cramps are distinguished by their deliciously campy 'n' crazy sensibility, wholehearted passion for both old-fashioned straight 'n' simple retro 50s rock music and entertainingly trashy grade B movies, and an appropriately raw 'n' bluesy full-throttle raucous rollicking sound. Their albums usually consisted of insanely inspired covers of obscure songs and delightfully deranged original compositions. The Cramps started out playing gigs at such legendary Big Apple punk venues as CBGB's and Max's Kansas City. In June 1978 they performed a free benefit concert for the patients at the California State Mental Hospital in Napa Valley. The group released their debut EP "Gravest Hits" in 1979. This was followed by the full-length album "Songs the Lord Taught Us" in 1980. The Cramps relocated to Los Angeles in 1980. They performed in concert all over the world (they even opened for the Police in Europe in 1980!) and recorded over ten albums in a career which spanned over thirty years." Robert Frank Untitled from the Americans, 1958, Beats Culture, Black & White. Photogravure print, mid-century, France,wax tissue mounted on conservation matboard. Influenced by the work of Jakob Tuggener and Bill Brandt, as well as Walker Evans, Frank, a native of Switzerland, Frank was fascinated by documentary photography and the notion and image of "America." Frank secured a Guggenheim fellowship in 1955 to do something new and unconstrained by commercial diktats. "The Americans" was first published in 1958 in France, before its first run in the US in 1959. The photographs were shocking and notable for their distanced view of both high and low strata of American society, creating a complicated portrait of a period that was, then and now, considered to be a skeptical portrait of post-WWII American values but also deeply empathetic and profoundly evocative of ubiquitous loneliness. Frank found a tension in the gloss of American culture and wealth over race and class differences, which gave his photographs a clear contrast to those of most contemporary American photojournalists, as did his use of unusual focus, low lighting and cropping that deviated from accepted photographic techniques. Shortly before the book was published in France, Frank returned to the US (1957) and met Jack Kerouac on the sidewalk outside a party. They started chatting. Frank showed him some of his photographs.
