The open basket-weave pattern in black synthetic material forms a continuous curved shell from seat to back, sitting atop the signature C-form cantilever base with small rubber feet. Breuer developed the cantilever chair concept at the Bauhaus, drawing on the structural principle that a continuous steel tube, properly tensioned, could replace the traditional rear legs entirely.
