"Kintsugi Rest" by Brian Stanziale

By Brian Stanziale

Located in Chicago, IL

In an exclusive collaboration, each hand-studded piece by artist the bms. was transformed from a provincial 19th century artifact into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Embellishing with silver and gold thumbtacks, the bms. adds a contemporary twist to our storied objects, animating each surface with bold and provocative designs. This kintsugi rest was originally a Qing-dynasty low stool, used by a Shoemaker while he assembled pairs of shoes. Marked by the artist's golden touch, the simple stool has been gilded with a pattern inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, wherein damaged ceramics...

Set of 12 Porcelain Shells by Giovanni Garibaldi for Richard-Ginori

Set of 12 Porcelain Shells by Giovanni Garibaldi for Richard-Ginori

By Giovanni Gariboldi

Located in New York, NY

Yet he had them glazed in improbable candy-like pastel colors of pink, yellow, and blue. Originally used principally as ashtrays, no doubt, they could also be put to use as serving dishes for nuts and candies, or as decorative tabletop objects...
