Antonio Fernández Reboiro is a Cuban Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1935. He studied medicine and architecture at the University of Havana. In 1963 he began working at the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry) until 1982 designing posters.
Most of the highly collectible Cuban posters are from mid-1960s through early 1980s, the period called “el periodo de oro de la grafica cubana” (golden period of Cuban graphics). These silkscreens were develop with new graphic techniques, due in part that materials were not readily available and lack of formal graphic schools. The Cuban posters became known for the use of bold innovate images which were mostly for proganda. Among the most important were the movie posters of the ICAIC which would promote the national movie industry as well as foreign films.

The item remains is very good condition. Would look great framed. Could be placed in a clear frame hanging in an open area for viewing on both sides.
When arriving in class in the morning, the pupil discovered the lesson of the day to be taught, thanks to the educational poster/board hung on the wall by the teacher. Each was numbered and was part of a series developing a theme. For example geography, history or science with the famous object lessons! Santiago Álvarez Román (1919-1998) was a Cuban filmmaker. Alvarez wrote and directed documentaries about Cuban and American culture. He became head of ICAIC newsreel division in the 60s and developed an unique format for his docu films.

About the Artist:
Jean Lurçat was a French painter, ceramist and tapestry designer, born in Bruyères on July 1, 1892 and died in Saint-Paul-de-Vence on January 6, 1966. He owes his fame mainly to his tapestry work, which he thoroughly executed in the twentieth century. He is frequently called the most instrumental figure in reviving the art of designing and weaving tapestries in the 20th century.
Although his first tapestries were executed and exhibited in 1917, it was not until 1936 that Lurçat turned from being primarily a painter to designing tapestries. In 1939 he and the painters Toussaint Dubreuil and Marcel Gromaire went to Aubusson, a French town historically associated with tapestry weaving since at least the 16th century, and established a centre for the making of modern tapestries in cooperation with the master weaver François Tabard.
