Mid Century Modern Large Slipper Lounge Chairs in Butterscotch Peruvian Alpaca

By Paul Laszlo

Located in Saint Louis, MO

This uniquely large pair of slipper chairs fully restored from top to bottom and newly upholstered in hand sewn Alpaca hides is without a doubt the Cadillac of Mid Century Modern luxury and style. Large seat. Large enveloping seat back with pinched wing back corners beckon you to drape yourself in whichever way feels right. Form is reminiscent of Paul Laszlo and his mid century modern silhouettes but roomier. The new Alpaca upholstery is truly divine - a blanket of artisan hand sewn butterscotch color hides carefully stitched together to create a blanket of organic uniformity. The softest hide in the world, Alpaca is baby soft to the touch. Original walnut bases newly refinished and restored to their original luster. Brass sabots. One of a kind furniture art. Erté Signed Serigraph Florida Pearl Dress 1989 Wentworth Framed 298/300 Art Deco

By Erté

Located in St. Louis, MO

An authentic, hand-signed limited edition embossed serigraph titled "Florida (Pearl Dress)" by master Art Deco designer Erté (Romain de Tirtoff, 1892–1990), published in 1989 by Chalk & Vermilion / Seven Arts. Hard to photo, please excuse reflections. Part of Erté’s celebrated American Millionairesses Revisited series, this work is based on an original 1917 costume design created for the American Millionairess Revue at the Théâtre Fémina in Paris. The print features intricate blind embossing, shimmering gold foil stamping, and subtle pearlized texturing. Housed in its original custom Wentworth Gallery Art Deco frame featuring textured gold-leaf corner accents and multi-tiered matting that echoes the work's geometric backdrop. The artwork is safely preserved beneath plexiglass glazing that does not touch the paper, keeping the foil and blind embossing in pristine, untouched condition (minor internal friction rubs present on the brown matting from the glazing edge). Retains its original Wentworth Gallery inventory label on the reverse with matching pencil-numbered edition stock details." Edition & Markings: Edition Number: #298 / 300 (Arabic Edition) Signature: Hand-signed in pencil lower right by Erté Publisher: Seven Arts Ltd. / Chalk & Vermilion (1989) Provenance: Wentworth Gallery (retains original verso inventory label) Dimensions: Frame Size: 48 11/16" H × 41 1/8" W (123.7 cm × 104.5 cm) Visible Sight / Mat Opening: 36 5/16" H × 27 7/8" W (92.2 cm × 70.8 cm) Excellent vintage condition overall. The serigraph itself is crisp, clean, and untouched—the plexiglass glazing is set away from the paper surface with proper clearance, preserving the gold foil stamping, blind embossing, and pearl texturing in original, pristine shape. The brown matting shows minor internal rub marks along the edge from contact with the plexiglass interior, which is common for larger gallery frames of this age and does not affect the artwork itself. The custom Wentworth frame shows minor, normal age-appropriate surface wear along the outer edges, remaining sturdy, structurally sound, and display-ready. Circa 1895 Goodalls Manchester Burled Wood Edwardian Fitted Triple Wardrobe
Circa 1895 Goodalls Manchester Burled Wood Edwardian Fitted Triple Wardrobe

Circa 1895 Goodalls Manchester Burled Wood Edwardian Fitted Triple Wardrobe

By Goodalls

Located in St. Louis, MO

An exceptional late-Victorian three-door fitted wardrobe by premier English firm Goodalls ("Goodalls" Furnishers & Decorators, Manchester), dating to circa 1890–1898. Crafted with striking full-facade burled wood veneers featuring delicate classical egg-and-dart carved trim and tapered spade feet, this piece features exceptionally versatile proportions. At just over 20 inches deep and 6 feet high, it offers a remarkably shallow footprint for a triple-door armoire—providing extensive storage without overwhelming smaller contemporary rooms, hallways, or primary suites. Creator: Goodalls of Manchester Period: 1890–1899 (Late 19th Century) Styles: Late Victorian / Edwardian Revival / Arts & Crafts Era British Materials: Burled Wood (Burl Walnut/Maple), Mahogany, Brass, Mirror Glass Condition: Good (Wear consistent with age and use) Item Type: Wardrobes / Armoires / Fitted Gentlemen's Compendiums Established on King Street in Manchester, E. Goodall & Co. was renowned as one of Northern England’s elite cabinetmaking and interior decorating firms, supplying high-end furnishings to prosperous industrial elites and collaborating with key figures of the Arts & Crafts movement, including Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo’s Century Guild. In 1899, the firm merged with prestigious cabinetmaker James Lamb to become Goodall, Lamb & Heighway. Because this piece retains the original, pre-merger metal plaque reading strictly "GOODALLS" Furnishers & Decorators Manchester, it pre-dates the 1899 merger, pinpointing its creation to the height of Goodalls' independent production. The interior opens via three full-length panel doors to reveal a comprehensive, original fitted storage system: Left & Center Bay (Double Door): Designed for full hanging storage featuring a brass valet hanging rod with original hanging hooks. Right Bay (Single Door): Features a full-length interior mirror on the door, fitted with three open sliding tray drawers above two deep enclosed drawers with brass bail pulls. Retains its original "GOODALLS" metal maker's plaque attached inside the right cabinet. Dimensions: Overall Case: 66" W × 20 1/4" D × 72 1/8" H Hanging Bay Interior (Left/Center): 44 1/4" W × 19" D Drawer / Tray Section (Right Bay): 16 3/4" W × 17 1/2" D Deep Bottom Drawers (x2): 8 5/8" Deep each Good original antique condition overall with beautiful aged patina. The interior sliding drawers operate smoothly in their runners. Displays minor age-appropriate surface wear, light finish touch-ups, edge wear, and small veneer losses consistent with over 120 years of use. One of the brass handles has been historically replaced with matching period-style pull. The skeleton key lock is present, but the key does not engage/operate the mechanism. Like many large antique armoires...

Signed Karl Springer 1991 Floating Embossed Leather Shagreen Desk Console Table

By Karl Springer

Located in St. Louis, MO

A rare, monumental signed desk or oversized console table by master American designer Karl Springer (1931–1991), executed and incised/signed in his final year of production, 1991. This piece showcases Springer's celebrated mastery of high-end surface textures and structural minimalism. A thick, inset "floating" top wrapped in rich, leather embossed with a fine shagreen skin pattern rests above a custom architectural base crafted in lacquered steel. The base features an open-frame perimeter with offset inner supports, creating a weightless visual effect. Functioning seamlessly as a executive desk, library table, or grand entryway console, this late-period work represents the culmination of Springer's career. Signed and dated Karl Springer 1991. Dimensions: Width: 72 1/4" (183.5 cm) Depth: 30" (76.2 cm) Height: 32 1/4" (81.9 cm) Karl Springer (1931–1991) was an influential German-born American furniture designer who helped define the aesthetic of late 20th-century luxury design. After emigrating from Berlin to New York City in 1957, Springer initially worked as a window dresser at Lord & Taylor, using his off-hours to craft leather-bound accessories that were picked up by Bergdorf Goodman. His career skyrocketed in the 1960s after gaining the patronage of the Duchess of Windsor, which established his standing among elite interior designers and high-society clients. Springer became celebrated for reintroducing rare, exotic materials into modern furniture forms—most notably shagreen (stingray skin), lacquered parchment, python, goatskin, Lucite, and heavy polished metalwork. Drawing aesthetic cues from Art Deco, classical Chinese furniture, and the Bauhaus movement, he distilled intricate historical shapes into bold, modern silhouettes. His studio produced handcrafted, made-to-order pieces until his death in 1991, leaving behind a legacy as one of the defining voices of American modernism and luxury craft. Designer / Studio: Karl Springer Ltd. Period: 1991 (Dated) Style: Postmodern / Maximalist Minimalism / Modernist Luxe Materials: Lacquered Steel, Leather Embossed Faux Shagreen, Wood Frame Markings: Incised / Stamped "Karl Springer 1991" Condition Report: Excellent vintage condition overall. The lacquered steel base retains its original luster with light, age-appropriate surface wear. The leather embossed faux shagreen top displays rich tone and texture with minimal minor scuffs consistent with careful light use. Structurally sound and solid. Creator: Karl Springer Period: 1990–1999 Styles: Postmodern, Mid-Century Modern Revival, Contemporary Luxe Materials: Steel, Leather, Lacquer Item Type: Desks / Console Tables / Library Tables Keywords: Karl Springer desk, signed Karl Springer 1991, Karl Springer console table, embossed leather shagreen desk, floating top console table...
