A defining piece in the vocabulary of deconstruction and the body, this S/S 2007 Maison Martin Margiela bodysuit is one of the foundational silhouettes of the collection - appearing repeatedly on the runway and later re-contextualised within Vanessa Beecroft’s performance installation featuring rows of models in nude second-skin garments. Cut in iconic nude jersey, the bodysuit features the sharply exaggerated, sculpted shoulders that became a visual anchor of the season: a quiet provocation, distorting natural anatomy into something architectural, almost ceremonial. The effect is stark, sculptural, and unmistakably Margiela - body as canvas, garment as conceptual armature. A rare and highly collectible runway piece, it represents the Maison at its most cerebral and refined: anonymity, uniformity, and the tension between exposure and concealment distilled into a single garment.
