Sun Valley Mountain Retreat

This Sun Valley house nestles comfortably into the surrounding landscape. The family wanted it to feature traditional details and be warm and inviting both in winter and summer. We used a lot of beautiful, natural materials including re-purposed oak for the floor, handsome rustic stone work on the fireplaces and reclaimed wood for some of the walls. Even the paint colors evoke the natural surroundings.

Throughout the planning and building process, we were also gathering handmade pieces--some old and some new--for the house and the original cabin on the property, which is now used as the bunkhouse.

A two-story living room serves as the core of the house, with a tall stone fireplace and a balcony looking down from the second story.
