Enhancing their simple yet sculptural form through translucency, two glass blown shapes come together entering a dialogue. The result is a seemingly bespoke pendant fixture—endlessly evolving in shape as it appears from different angles. Always a combination of a large and small glass blown form, each with four possibilities for finishes, the Pebble allows for the individual to extract their personal collection. Both glass forms are connected to one another with a machined aluminum LED holder and heat sink; allowing the forms to pair up in harmony—while elegantly housing the electrical connections and suspension system. Each side is proportionally lit, allowing the combination of large and small forms with consistent light output. Opaque, translucent, glossy, etched or varying in colour—the range of finishes honours the diverse qualities of pebbles found in nature. A very fine pair of mid-Victorian parcel gilt bronze oil lamps, by Hinks, each modelled as a bearded warrior dressed in the style of a Saxon king with a crowned helmet, broadsword and double-headed battle axe, standing in front of a slender scroll support surmounted by a cut glass oil reservoir, all set on a shaped ormolu base encircled with a victor’s wreath of oak leaves, and raised on an octagonal bronze base, converted to electricity, stamped ‘Hinks & Sons Patent’ on the fitting. English, circa 1860. Footnote: James Hinks (1816-1905). Leaving home at 16 he tried many trades from wood turning, japanning, brush making, die sinking, medal making and even being a pub landlord, before manufacturing oil lamps. Magnificent Italian bathroom set in a lovely blue tiffany colored artglass and chromed steel that includes a sqaure mirror, two sconces and a wall shelf. These fantastic items were made by VECA in Italy during the 1970s and are signed on the back of the chrome plates by the company. back. The incredible charm of this set stands behind the quality of colored glasses made by Veca. The glasses change color going from an iconic Tiffany blue in a well-lit environment to a stunning dark aquamarine when the ambient is not illuminated. The sconces feature a double beveled glass design with chrome accents, in the same color of the rest of the set. They come wired and tested and use a signle E14 light bulb, compatible with both US and EU standards. The mirror highlights a fantastic square frame in a blue tiffany colored glass mirror that holds a round clear mirror and is completed by two rectangular chrome accents. The elegant shelf is made in sinuous colored artglass mounted on two round backplates which are also enriched by two colored round glasses covers. An incredibly stylish Mid-Century bathroom setting, in amazing conditions, with no chips. The mirror frame has some minor signs of oxidation (but no fading), which are less noticeable in a daily use than in the photos, and don't compromise the elegance of this fantastic set.
