Working on snow scenes is always a challenge as there is no room for error keeping white paper unmarked. This is difficult because a lino block is almost empty, with few marks except the essential ones. In this linocut I have included a typical winter light, but the main event is the shadows changing shade and colour across the snow.

Tom Burckhardt’s work is a carnival of images jumbled and jostling each other in precarious nonsensical compositions. He uses lushly colored and patterned images from all kinds of sources that bounce between abstraction and representation. Images come from tool catalogs, paper and fabric patterns, funhouse painting, architectural details, stripes, dots and squiggles. It is as if Burckhardt is a cartoonist merrily channeling Ellsworth Kelly, Paul Feeley, Robert Therrien, and Myron Stout, among others. Like Red Grooms, for whom he worked as an assistant, Burckhardt ransacks his influences yet ends up with something unmistakably his own. Arturs Mucenieks (1912-1984)
Graphic artist, painter. Born in the family of the tenant. Zenta Muсenieсe wife - painter, daughter Ilse Muceniece - painter. In 1949 he graduated from the AAL department of Painting; Diploma work "Sportsman holiday " (head O. Skulme). He worked as a teacher and head of the teaching department at the J. Rosenthal Riga Art School (1950-56), editorial managers of landscape, poster and cards at publishing house "Liesma" (1966-68). He participated in exhibitions since 1948. Significant personal and memorabilia exhibition: in Riga (1969-70, 1971, 1975, 76, 78-79, 80, 85), Ogre (1978-79, 1989). Member of the Artists` Union of Latvia since 1959.
In easel graphic he carried away with monumentalism, poetically rich and naturally true person depiction, which realized in dynamic linocuts cycles ( "Latvian farm Anturage", 1961; "We want peace", 1962; "Spring Song", 1967). Concept of monumantalizing image developed in book graphics, primarily in the illustration to the prose (P. Bauģe "People near the water" 1961, R. Ezeras "Wild apple tree" 1966, and "Water well", 1972, A. Auziņa "Griezies, vilciņ", 1973) and poster art (" Riga - 750! Riverside Oystercatchers by Rob Barnes is a limited edition linocut print using a Key Block and a Reduction Block resulting in several layers of printing. This landscape was inspired by a riverside walking area in Suffolk where there are often numerous Oystercatchers. Rob was trying to achieve a strong sunset image with Oystercatcher movement highlighted across the river. He is inspired by the East Anglian coast and landscape, much of which appears in his linocut prints. Many of these show Rob’s keen interest in the use of colour blends, light on water, and graduations of tone. Rob Barnes studied painting and printmaking at Hull College of Art and London University in the early 1960s. He taught etching, screen-printing, linocut and related surface printmaking at Keswick Hall College in Norfolk. He later moved to the University of East Anglia where he continued teaching in the School of Education until 2006. He is based in South Norfolk. He has exhibited regularly in London and many of his etchings and linocuts are in private collections, here and abroad. More recently he has returned to linocuts, enjoying the strong physical nature of this medium. His linocuts are inspired mainly by the landscape of East Anglia. Summer Wasdale and Sun on the Scafells is a diptych of limited edition prints by Mark Pearce. At school Mark spent most of his time in the art department.
