Fluctuation - Large Organic Nature Inspired Modernist Abstract Sculpture

Fluctuation - Large Organic Nature Inspired Modernist Abstract Sculpture

By Jacob Burmood

Located in Los Angeles, CA

This original sculpture is created in cold-cast aluminum, which interacts beautifully with its environment and reflects light in nuanced ways. Because of the reflective surface of aluminum, the sculpture takes on different appearances depending on the lighting conditions: In bright lighting, the sculpture appears more vibrant and silver-toned, showcasing its lustrous finish and fluid contours. The high contrast highlights every curve and swirl, giving it a striking, almost glowing presence. In softer or dimmer light, the tones become more muted and subtle. The sculpture takes on a pewter-like appearance, with deeper shadows and a more understated elegance. This makes it a perfect fit for a variety of settings, adapting to its surroundings and changing mood with the light. The sculpture’s color and finish are consistent; the perceived changes are purely the result of lighting. The color variations in the photos are a testament to the material’s responsiveness to light. If you’re placing it in a room with changing daylight or adjustable lighting, you’ll enjoy how it shifts throughout the day, almost like a living piece of art. Jacob Burmood creates undulating abstract cold cast aluminum sculptures, intuitively redefining aesthetic shapes and visual perceptions. His sculptures draw connections between nature-inspired, organically composed objects, rejecting the rigid structure of geometric abstraction in favor of harmonious compositions that seem to move before the eye. This original cold-cast aluminum sculpture is 26 inches tall by 12 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. The sculpture Burmood's artworks are inspired by modernist and bio-morphic sculpture...

Ritual Object Locus 1 - Sculptural Abstract Original Painting Minimalist

By Len Klikunas

Located in Los Angeles, CA

Artist Len Klikunas paints to modify experienced reality through visual perception. His art is a mix of art and architecture, hovering between painting and sculpture. It employs shizen (自然): the Japanese concept of naturalness, absence of pretense, or artificiality. Material is stretched over a supporting three-dimensional framework, like a tent, and coated with paint. This multi-dimensional 18-inch square and 3.25-inch deep post-minimalist artwork is wired and ready to hang. It is created with mixed media on canvas, stretched over a three-dimensional wooden form. The sides of this artwork are finished by the artist as a continuation of the front, and it does not require framing. The artist signs and titles the artwork on the back. Convenient delivery is available for those in the local Los Angeles area, and affordable worldwide shipping is available for US and international art collectors. A certificate of authenticity issued by the gallery is included. Klikunas focuses on the larger idea behind his original abstract minimalist artworks. The work is characterized by “mindful artlessness” and simplicity. The natural-like radiation that comes from the structure of the materials and color schemes expresses calmness. With a fusion of art and architecture, Klikunas presents compositions that defy conventional perceptions. Through strategic placement and a rich color palette, he creates three-dimensional structures that engage viewers in a captivating visual experience. Len Klikunas' sculptural minimalist works are represented by Artspace Warehouse Los Angeles. They have been exhibited and collected throughout the world. Liz Sweibel, Untitled (Scrapings #2), 2016, Wood, Paint, Found Objects

By Liz Sweibel

Located in Darien, CT

The freestanding sculptures in this portfolio are made from the “sticks”: a pile of found wood that Sweibel has been pulling from to make new works since about 2002. The pile consisted of more than a dozen four- to seven-foot lengths of hardwood, each an uneven inch in depth and width. The sticks were warped, with worn yellow paint on one side and raw wood on the other three. Over the years she has painted the raw sides of the sticks, cut the wood into shorter lengths, and sliced paint off – and kept the residue from these actions. Sweibel has also made sculptures ranging from full-length sticks to tiny stick splinters. She built these sculptures using sliced-off paint. Timeworn materials and objects have an intelligence that the artist looks for and listens to. Shaping and reshaping material to find new form and elicit new insights in the material itself is the territory she is mining. The limitations of the process are its strengths. Her work is concerned with fragility, precariousness, adaptability, and strength. It is a visual response to powerful yet unseen forces - like wind and thoughts - that threaten, propel, ruin, and protect. Liz Sweibel is a multidisciplinary artist working in drawing, sculpture, installation, and digital photography and video. Her spare, personal language of abstraction transforms ordinary materials into statements about connectedness and responsibility: every action has an impact, the effects persist in space and over time, and we are accountable. By drawing attention to simple, ordinary “stuff of life” and referencing both shared and personal history, Sweibel’s work explores and reflects back fundamental experiences in response to our world and relationships. Her intention is to reinvigorate viewers’ awareness of the everyday – in its raw beauty and precariousness – in hopes that they might bring heightened senses of sight and care to their daily lives. Sweibel has participated in solo, two-person, and group exhibits in New York, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Michigan, and Tennessee since 1998. In 2016, Sweibel’s work was in the group shows Lightly Structured at Sculpture Space NYC, Precarious Constructs at the Venus Knitting Art...

Music Sonata In A Shadow Box
Music Sonata In A Shadow Box

Music Sonata In A Shadow Box

By Erik J. Erikson

Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL

Music Sonata In A Shadow Box 2023 Mixed Media, artist signed, front Plexiglas. This sculpture is perfect for the wall or a coffee table. This 3D music diorama found its home in a drawer from an antique Tansu Chest. Some of the 3D elements were made by Erikson. Antique materials achieve a vintage and interesting aesthetic. The depth of the case creates a stage like atmosphere as sort of a visual guide for the viewers eye. The overlapping and juxtaposition of the elements creates a intriguing and appealing composition. Very often Erikson art echoes and fuses antiquity and modernity. Erikson’s central imagery concerns itself with intrigue and a sense of surprise. His body of work is often dispersed with visual, tactile and intellectual delights that lead the viewer on their own form of discovery. Erikson’s awareness of the aesthetic in sending things back in time is a result of studying the Renaissance and other periods of art history. This infusion of historical art references has had a vital effect on his body of work. Heavily influenced by the well known New York art dealer Allan Stone (who represented, among other giants, Joseph Cornell, and Willem de Kooning, Erikson has never departed from Stone’s insistence that “surprise” should remain with a piece of art no matter how long it is viewed. The discipline of archeology decodes messages of the past to find meanings of objects and classify them. This observation takes the viewer on a deeper understanding of the interplay. As a curator of his own “museum cases” in other work, Erikson’s personal vocabulary evokes images of extreme preciousness combined in miniature settings. Despite its minute scale his work commands presence and a sense of vastness. In his body of work, Erikson attempts to introduce sculpture to painting as a way of integrating the second and third dimensions. Exhibited: Allan Stone Gallery - New York, New York Elaine Baker Gallery - Boca Raton, Florida Renata Fine Arts Gallery - West Palm Beach, Florida Winfield Gallery...

The image has its own meaning; not storytelling, not just a picture of a face or a flower. Neither is it simply an exercise in the arrangement of shapes or colors. I want to translate my immediate impression into paint to present the image of an outstretched branch of flowers or a face – direct and simple. My art reflects human concerns expressed symbolically, through fantasy and in a more concrete manner in the process of making the representation itself. Art is my response to the image, the end result of an active process of exploration of the limits of the paint on paper within the confines of representation. The painting of a face is not just a face. My feelings are expressed through these images. My paintings speak to anyone in touch with their own humanity; to anyone else my art may be dismissed as “to personal”. Biography: Gilbert Braddy Lewis born September 25, 1945 in Hampton, Va. Son of David Blake Lewis (born in Atlanta, Ga.) and Gladys Louise Braddy [Lewis] (of Sanford, Fl.); brother of David Blake Lewis (Jr.) and Linda Lewis [Hunter]. The family resides at 3 South Linden Street, Hampton, Va. 1953 until 1962 “I studied from the age of seven, in Virginia, with two well-known Tidewater artists, Jean Craig and the late Allan Jones. The teaching methods of carefully observed studies from nature in charcoal or tempra paint, derived, of course, from the original French academic model, conveyed its impact on my early development; however, my eye and consciousness were mostly activated by the reproductions on the studio wall of works by Botticelli, Da Vinci, and Michelangelo.” Gilbert Lewis in Contemporary Philadelphia Artists: A Juried Exhibition, (Philadelphia Museum of Art 2000), p. 145 1963-68 Studies at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with Franklin Watkins, Hobson Pittman, Morris Blackburn, and Walter Stuempfig. While a student at PAFA he shares apartment [261 South 21st Street] with PAFA students, Jody Pinto and Barbara Sosson. In 1967 he receives PAFA’s: Bergman Prize in Painting; M. Herbert Syme Prize; and Samuel Cresson Memorial Travelling Scholarship. The latter award enables Lewis to travel to Europe during the summer of 1967 where he visits museums. “In 1967, after having seen the Italian master’s work while on scholarship from the Pennsylvania Academy, I was to realize my great influences and to discover the earlier Sienese masters whose clarity and energy still move me.” Gilbert Lewis in Contemporary Philadelphia Artists: A Juried Exhibition, (Philadelphia Museum of Art 2000), p. 145 1968 Horizontal painting [of an interior with a seated woman and cat by a large window] reproduced in black and white in school catalog for Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts 1968-1969, p. 24.
