Woman of Valor
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The centerpiece of "Woman of Valor" is undoubtedly the woman's majestic afro hairstyle. In this artwork, the afro becomes a symbol of pride, cultural identity, and natural beauty. Historically associated with the Black community, the afro has been a powerful emblem of resistance, self-expression, and defiance against societal standards of beauty. By prominently featuring the afro, Edwin highlights the strength and resilience of women who embrace their heritage and challenge conventional norms. The woman's stern gaze in "Woman of Valor" captures the viewer's attention and evokes a sense of determination and self-assuredness. The intensity of her gaze serves as a reminder that strength does not always manifest through loud or overt actions. It can also be found in the quiet confidence and unwavering resolve of an individual who knows her worth and stands firm in her beliefs. Edwin skillfully portrays this inner strength, encouraging viewers to recognize and celebrate their own uniqueness. One of the most remarkable aspects of "Woman of Valor" is its celebration of individuality and authenticity. The woman depicted in the artwork stands as a testament to the power of embracing one's true self, regardless of societal expectations or pressures. By representing her with pride, Edwin inspires viewers to embrace their own identities and celebrate their personal journeys. The artwork encourages individuals to recognize the inherent strength and beauty that comes from being true to themselves. Edwin's attention to detail and mastery of his craft infuses "Woman of Valor" with emotional depth and resonance. The artist's use of color, light, and shadow adds depth and dimension to the woman's features, capturing her inner world and inviting viewers to connect with her on an emotional level. The artwork becomes a mirror that reflects the strength and determination within each viewer, inspiring them to embrace their own unique paths and stand tall in the face of adversity. Guided by her passion for life and her spirit, French Canadian painter Zabel creates vibrant artworks filled with romance and immersive textures. With a belief that art is all about feeling, she creates magic and captures the moment by infusing her art with strong emotive qualities. Zabel communicates each scene with precision. Her work evokes the Impressionists, but depicts modern love and adventure. Couples stand at bar top tables sipping aperitifs. Bartenders and piano players help to break the ice among palm trees and cityscapes presented in vibrant, dripping hues. The energy of social butterflies drawn to one another is palpable as they float effortlessly across the canvas. This 40 inch high by 60 inch wide painting is wired and ready to hang. Zabel used gold leaf and acrylic paint to create this unique artwork. The sides of the artwork are painted and it does not require framing. The artist signs the painting on the back as well as the front lower right corner. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and global shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Using only spatulas, every artwork communicating her story is full of visceral energy. She plays with a strong, vast color palette and creates a unique ambiance in her artworks. Her inspiration never ends; from chic and glamorous lifestyles rendered in gold and silver to neon summer vibes, you can feel the vibrancy of her life’s travels and colorful experiences. For several years, the artworks of Zabel have seduced Quebecois from across provinces, earning her several awards. Zabel’s paintings are now catching the keen eyes of collectors internationally. From New York to Japan, across the USA from California to Miami, and all over Europe, her love story is only beginning. Untitled No. 762 - Framed Contemporary Minimalist Blue Landscape Ocean Artwork
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This stunning artwork by Jeremy Prim is a minimalist masterpiece that exudes tranquility and captures the essence of the Pacific coastline. The painting features a serene blue color palette that evokes a sense of calm and serenity. The bottom half of the piece is adorned with bold, clean lines, creating a structured contrast against the organic nature of the sky above. The top half of the piece showcases a beautifully painted sky, with soft, wispy clouds that seem to stretch out into infinity. This 38 inch high by 56 inch wide abstract landscape painting is wired and ready to hang. The artwork is floated in a white wooden frame that distinguishes the artwork's elegance and sense of calm. Size and price include frame. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique work. Jeremy Prim creates each painting by using many thin layers of translucent oil paint tempered with cold wax. This process washes the artwork with a sense of foreshortening, bringing the viewer into the vastness of Prim’s subject. Prim is based in Seattle, Washington, and is inspired by his surroundings: “The paintings I create are evocative of the Pacific Northwest coast” states the artist. While referentially specific the paintings capture more than a singular scene “They are a collective of physical and sensory reinterpretations of the Pacific, primarily derived from memory and intuition.” REPRESENTATION Artspace Warehouse, Los Angeles, USA SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2022 Blue Like the Ocean, Artspace Gallery, Los Angeles, CA 2019 Michael Birawer Gallery, Seattle, WA 2018 Atelier Drome, Seattle, WA 2016 Wittman Estes, Seattle, WA 2015 Threshold Gallery @ Mithun, Seattle, WA GROUP EXHIBITIONS 2023 The Art of Water...

American, b. 1970 "Pitliuk has created a style that will endear him to those who venture into the collection of modern art; it challenges the intellect and tickles the funny bone at the same time." --Sharon Lorenzo - Art Historian "Artist Stephen Pitliuk introduces something bold to the island... [his] Pop Art stands out on an island inundated with landscape paintings." "Pitliuk, an island resident for [seven] years, comes to us from Miami, Florida. His work hangs in many private and corporate collections throughout the country... [The] vibrant colors and the rhythm of his native South Florida are definitely reflected in his work. His latest pieces, which burst through the prosaic treadmill of the New England art scene with a vengeance, bring anything from a raised eyebrow, to hysterical laughter to the viewer. Politically incorrect at best, and always with a smile, a balance of humor and commentary as an art form that is very often attempted and very rarely succeeds. In this case though, it has. Pitliuk's latest body of work seems to have hit the bull's eye of what makes Nantucketers tick. A fantastic mix of Post Modern meets Pop, meets Dadaism, meets Jean Michael...

Haitian Voodoo Beaded Flag with Gran Bwa signed "Claude"
Located in Milwaukee, WI
The present work is an excellent example of the flags and banners of Haitian Vodun practice. It is constructed of cloth with hand-stitched glass beads and sequins, representing the figure Gran Bwa (also Grand Bois, spelled on the flag "GRAИD BOI"). According to Patrick Arthur Polk, Vodun flags are meant to honor or invoke gods, as well as to depict their likenesses and attributes with dazzling displays of color. In addition, the beadwork may reference the African religious elements of Vodun which came to Haiti with African slaves. Haiti is an important part of the African diaspora and there is no other Caribbean nation that has such rich survivals of African-style music and dancing, and of religious beliefs and practices that relate to ancient African tradition. According to Polk, Gran Bwa, "ruler of the forest, is the master of herbal remedies. He also presides over initiations which require, at least symbolically, the secrecy of the forest’s darkest recesses. He normally appears as a tall, symmetrical figure that is half man and half tree." The imagery of Haitian Voodoo culture is derived from multiple sources, and the culture seems to have the ability to integrate the various sources from popular culture to Catholic imagery into traditional African symbols, values and rituals. Images like that of Gran Bwa are based off ritual drawings, or vévé, used to invoke the deity and to consecrate ritual space. Such vévé in Voodoo, unlike images appropriated from Catholicism or from popular culture, are probably based off of ground drawings from Central and West Africa. The relatively young age of this example shows the power and influence the imagery continues to have in Haiti to this day. 16.5 x 19.25 inches, artwork 24.25 x 27 inches, frame Polk, Patrick Arthur. In My Solitude
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Nudity in art has historically been a contentious subject, often raising questions about beauty standards, objectification, and the human form. In "In My Solitude," however, Edwin treats nudity with sensitivity and purpose. The nude figure, devoid of clothing and external trappings, serves as a metaphor for vulnerability and raw authenticity. It becomes a powerful statement on embracing one's true self, stripped of societal expectations and external judgments. The choice of the yoga position is not arbitrary in Edwin's composition. Yoga has long been associated with self-discovery, inner peace, and spiritual enlightenment. The woman's serene posture exudes a sense of calmness and introspection. Through this position, Edwin suggests that solitude and self-reflection are integral to personal growth and inner strength. It encourages viewers to embrace moments of introspection and find solace in their own thoughts, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of themselves. Edwin's meticulous attention to detail and symbolism further enriches the narrative of "In My Solitude." The subtle play of light and shadow highlights the contours of the woman's body, accentuating the vulnerability and emotional depth captured in the artwork. The artist's skillful brushwork evokes a sense of intimacy, drawing the viewer into the private world of the subject. The title itself, "In My Solitude," adds an additional layer of meaning. Solitude, often associated with loneliness, is reimagined as a source of inner strength and self-discovery. Edwin invites viewers to contemplate the transformative power of spending time alone, away from distractions and truly connecting with oneself. Crixtover Edwin...

Boy Bee
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
At the core of "Boy Bee," we encounter the symbol of the blue face cap. The blue color carries diverse connotations, representing tranquility, freedom, and a sense of calm. In this artwork, the blue face cap becomes a powerful symbol of the wearer's individuality and self-expression. It suggests that the young man is using his choice of headwear as a means of asserting his uniqueness and setting himself apart from societal norms or expectations. The face cap becomes a metaphorical shield, allowing the young man to navigate the world on his own terms, symbolizing his desire to create his own identity and carve his own path. By prominently featuring the blue face cap, John invites viewers to reflect on the significance of personal style as a form of self-expression and as a means of celebrating our distinctiveness. "Boy Bee" encourages contemplation of the intricate nature of identity and the journey of self-discovery. The young man in the artwork exudes a sense of confidence and self-assuredness, suggesting that he has embraced his unique qualities and is comfortable expressing them. His choice of the blue face cap hints at his exploration of various aspects of self and his willingness to experiment with different forms of personal style. The artwork encourages us to question societal expectations and norms, urging us to uncover and celebrate the diverse layers that make us who we are. "Boy Bee" serves as a reminder that true fulfillment and happiness come from authentically expressing ourselves, even if it means deviating from the conventional path. In "Boy Bee," Makama John...
