Las Ramblas Barcelona Flower Market Street Scene Painting Urban Impressionist

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

Scenes of Las Ramblas in Barcelona remain among the most recognizable urban subjects in European painting and are highly sought after by collectors and interior designers worldwide. Artist Jordi Junyent Title Rambla de las Flores, Barcelona Date 1988 Medium Oil on canvas Dimensions 50 × 61 cm 19.7 × 24 in Signature Signed “Junyent” lower left and dated 1988. Frame Unframed Condition Very good condition. Canvas firm and well stretched. Stable paint layer with bright colors. No visible restorations. Atmospheric urban painting depicting Las Ramblas flower market in Barcelona, one of the most recognizable and vibrant locations in the city. The composition captures the scene after rainfall, with reflective pavement, flower stalls and strolling figures creating depth and movement. The wet street surface reflects light and silhouettes, enhancing the lively Mediterranean atmosphere. Executed with a confident and expressive brushstroke, the artist uses a palette dominated by cool greys, greens and blues contrasted with vivid reds from the flower displays. The simplified figures and loose handling of paint emphasize the mood of the place rather than strict detail, a characteristic approach of post-impressionist urban painting. Scenes of Barcelona’s Las Ramblas are particularly sought after in the international decorative art market due to their strong visual identity and association with one of Europe’s most iconic boulevards. An attractive and highly decorative cityscape, ideal for collectors of European urban painting or for interior design settings seeking a vibrant Mediterranean atmosphere. Jordi Junyent was a Spanish painter active in the late twentieth century whose work focused primarily on urban scenes and Mediterranean city views. His paintings often depict recognizable locations such as the streets of Barcelona, rendered with a loose brushstroke and an emphasis on atmosphere, light and color. Working within a post-impressionist tradition, Junyent developed compositions that balance figurative clarity with painterly spontaneity, making his works appealing within the European decorative art market. Large Mother and Child in Flower Garden Oil Painting, Spanish Impressionist art

By José Royo

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

Artist: José Royo (b. 1941, Valencia, Spain) Title: Mother and Child in Flower Garden Date: 1985 Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions (canvas): 100 × 81 cm 39.37 × 31.89 in Signature: Signed lower right “Royo” Frame: Unframed Condition: Very good overall condition. The canvas is stable and well preserved. The paint surface shows original impasto and expressive brushwork consistent with the artist’s technique. Large Spanish Impressionist figurative oil painting depicting a mother and child seated within a lush flowering garden. Painted in 1985, this expressive composition combines vibrant floral color with dynamic brushwork characteristic of late 20th-century Mediterranean figurative painting. The scene unfolds within a dense garden of pink blossoms and rich greenery, creating a vibrant natural environment that surrounds the two central figures. The mother and child appear seated quietly within this floral setting, rendered with loose and expressive brushwork that gives the painting both movement and depth. The composition is built through energetic strokes and visible impasto, particularly in the flowers and vegetation, where layers of color create texture and visual rhythm. The garments of the figures are treated with softer transitions, balancing the dynamic surface with a sense of calm intimacy. The palette combines warm flesh tones with luminous pinks and greens, reflecting the Mediterranean light and painterly tradition associated with Spanish Impressionist figurative painting. With its substantial scale of 100 × 81 cm (39 × 32 inches), the work has a strong visual presence and functions beautifully as a large statement piece for collectors or interior designers seeking expressive European figurative art. The painting is signed by the artist. José Royo (Valencia, 1941) is a Spanish figurative painter known for his expressive brushwork and vibrant Mediterranean palette. His paintings often depict female figures and intimate scenes set within natural environments. Influenced by the Spanish Impressionist tradition and the Valencian school of painting, Royo developed a gestural style characterized by rich color, textured surfaces and dynamic compositions. His work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in numerous private collections. mother and child painting large oil painting figurative oil painting spanish impressionist painting...

Frameless. Is born in Madrid on the 21st july 1951. After attending primary school, he starts to grow an enormous tendency for drawing. At the age of 14 he begins to work in advertising and attends to the Vallecas school of arts. At the age of 14 he travels to Switzerland and in Geneve he gets intensly into painting and decides to dedicate himself only to it. When he returns to Spain he enrolls Arts Studies, and at the begining of summer '66, he visits Sitges, where he'll come back year after year and where ultimately he'll set his home. At this time he starts selling his painting in the flea market in Madrid and later in Sitges, setting himself on the street, thus completing his studies and making it economically. While he's in Madrid he recives lessons by Pedro Mozas at Bellas Artes and starts to learn profoundly about painting. In 1969 he starts painting portraits in the streets. In Sitges he creates, with other friends, a great artistic atmosphere in the Paseo de la Ribera, by the sea, that today still exists. He starts travelling through Europe, visiting and painting in Paris, London and Amsterdam. In the middle of this bohemian epoque, he moves to the Cannary Islands during the winters for 5 years in a row, he moves in the Parque de Santa Catalina "Las Palmas de Gran Canaria" where he works and meet all sorts of people in the streets, which later would mark his pictoric line. He becomes friend with Sidney Nagley in 1969, who organizes his first exhibition in Toronto, Canada. Afterwards he'll leave his studies and start painting exclusively in his studio. He gathers his first exhibition in the Ateneu of Barcelona in 1970. He befriends with the art critic of La Vanguardia, Fernando Gutierrez and the Count of Caralt orders him a set of illustration for a new edition of Garcia Lorcas Romancero Gitano. His first exhibition in a commercial gallery is done in the Majestic Gallery in Barcelona with a gorgeous collection of nudity drawings. He achieves huge success and for some years he affords his painting thanks to those drawings. During a period in Madrid, Mr Ponce de León, a consul in the Ministry of Exterior Affairs grants him with bachelor degree to study in the prestigious Academia de España in Rome. However, he can't accept it due to militar service obligations. Some days later, before joining the ranks he opens in the Cuatre Gats (Palma de Mallorca) with hiperrealist pieces that already then he presented as the first painter in that city, that later would become a fashion in 1973. After this period he meets José Maria Gudiol who advises positively. Since then, the intense work and the fight for daily improvement that has become the trademark of his life. The seek of styles and situations, the journeys through Europe always aware of all the tendencies that have in the art line that we can see nowadays. At his more than fifty years given to paint, his individual exhibitions beat the 100, his artwork is highly appreciated and valued in the complex market of art. In October 1982 hi makes his first exhibition in Tarragona. In the catalogue, writing of the unforgettable Fernando Gutierrez, he says "Fuentetaja is an artist of character and exceptional upbringing with a masterly knowledge of technique and resourses, and personality completely uncommon to the dimension of his sensitivity, as the richness of his deep and bloomed liricism. A judgement as accurate as foreseeing for the future outstanding of the artist, in where his paint soared through different phases mantaining an unquestionable quality. Lines, cubist, expressionist and hiperrealist till his current realism, in the middle of his creative maturity. Jose Luis Fuentetaja...

'Port of Saint-Malo', oil on canvas affixed to board, French Modern School (1984). Although the artist dated this painting '84, it depicts a nostalgic view of the port of Saint-Malo in Western France's, Brittany in 1884 judging by the clothing worn by the characters depicted. The crowd on the shoreline is watching a sailboat regatta starting just inside the port's breakwater. A rather rare sunny day in Brittany brought out the parasols of the sitting ladies on the edge of the old ramparts. The walled city...

Ellen Powell Tiberino, matriarch of the Tiberino artist dynasty that includes her artist-husband Joseph and three artist-children (Raphael, Gabriel, and Ellen), often looked to Black women and girls as subjects, in the contexts of motherhood, pregnancy, and childhood, as well as subjects drawn from her neighborhood communities. Her work is expressionistic and passionate with dramatic gestures and dark colorism in her figures, but it is also intimate and highly personal. At this point in her career, Tiberino had been struggling with cancer, and as a result, her palette became brighter and more colorful than her former dark palette. "Three Sisters" includes Ellen Powell Tiberino’s self-portrait in the front of the composition, nursing an infant. Tiberino’s two sisters, Joyce and Anne, sit behind her. Tiberino likely paints from memory or imagination here, since her four children were well beyond nursing age when she created this painting. "Three Sisters" is likely among the last large-scale canvases Tiberino completed, opting to work on a smaller scale and while seated as her illness progressed. Tiberino ultimately lost her battle in 1992. "Three Sisters" comes from a private Main Line, PA collection, acquired directly from the artist immediately upon its completion. Framed in original wood strip frame. It is in excellent condition. Tiberino graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1959, where she was awarded a prestigious Cresson scholarship to study in Europe. After returning to the US, she lived and worked in New York until she married fellow artist (Joseph) and returned to her hometown of Philadelphia where she continued to create oil paintings, oil pastels drawings, sculptures, murals, and mosaics. In Philadelphia, she was part of social and professional circles that included Moe Brooker, Barbara Bullock, Walter Edmonds, Charles Pridgen, Leroy Johnson, John Simpson, James Dupree...

Impressionist Mediterranean Harbor Painting Port de la Selva Costa Brava Fishing Boats Oil Canvas Artist: Lazarotti Title: Port de la Selva Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 60 × 73 cm (23.6 × 28.7 in) Signature: Signed lower right Inscription: Titled on reverse Frame: Unframed Condition: Very good condition. Stable paint surface with original impasto visible Origin: Spain Atmospheric Mediterranean harbor scene depicting Port de la Selva on the Costa Brava, one of the most picturesque fishing villages in northeastern Spain near Cap de Creus. The composition presents a lively shoreline animated by traditional fishing boats resting along the beach and floating gently across reflective harbor waters. Whitewashed architecture rises against the mountainous backdrop, creating a luminous contrast with the turquoise sea and expansive sky. Executed with confident impressionist brushwork, the painting captures shifting reflections and coastal light through layered strokes of blue, rose, ochre and soft green tonal transitions. The surface retains visible impasto that enhances depth and movement across the water. Mediterranean harbor paintings of this type are especially sought after for their decorative clarity, collector accessibility and strong interior presence, particularly within coastal and modern European painting collections. The inscription “Port de la Selva” on the reverse confirms the exact Catalan location represented. This work belongs to the Mediterranean impressionist...

Large Museum Scale Surrealist Composition Dalí Circle Catalan Oil Painting art

By Antoni Pitxot

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

Large Museum Scale Surrealist Composition Dalí Circle Catalan Painting 1987 Artist: Antoni Pitxot Birth–death: Figueres, 1934–2015 Title: Battle of Constantine Series Date: 1987 Technique: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 100 × 100 cm (39.4 × 39.4 in) Signature: Signed and dated “pitxot 87” lower right Condition: Excellent overall condition Frame: Unframed Provenance: Private collection, Barcelona DESCRIPTION Important large-scale surrealist oil painting executed in 1987 by Antoni Pitxot, one of the closest artistic collaborators of Salvador Dalí and a central figure within the visual universe of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres. This powerful 100 × 100 cm composition belongs to Pitxot’s Battle of Constantine series, one of the artist’s most ambitious narrative cycles. In this work, his unmistakable geological figuration becomes a theatrical surrealist battlefield, where mineral forms, latent human presences, fossil memory and Mediterranean landscape merge into a monumental symbolic construction. Pitxot’s mature paintings are instantly recognizable for their transformation of stones into anthropomorphic figures and metaphysical architectures. Rather than depicting a conventional landscape, the artist creates a stage of petrified forms, suspended between archaeology, sculpture, mythology and dream imagery. The work is especially strong for its museum-scale square format, its dramatic vertical construction and its direct connection with the Dalí circle. Large paintings by Pitxot with this level of compositional complexity are considerably less common than his smaller cabinet-format works and are particularly attractive for collectors of Spanish surrealism, Catalan modernism, European surrealism and artists connected to Salvador Dalí. A major statement piece with exceptional wall presence, ideal for an important private collection, curated interior or collector focused on late twentieth-century European surrealism. ARTIST BIO Antoni Pitxot (Figueres, 1934 – Cadaqués, 2015) was a Catalan painter and one of the most significant artists associated with Salvador Dalí’s late artistic environment. Born into the historic Pichot family, closely linked to the artistic life of Cadaqués, Pitxot studied drawing in San Sebastián under Juan Núñez, who had also been Dalí’s teacher. During the 1950s and early 1960s he exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao and Lisbon before settling permanently in Cadaqués in 1966. From that moment, he developed his mature and highly distinctive pictorial language based on the rock formations of Cap de Creus. Pitxot collected stones from the coast, arranged them in his studio as sculptural constructions, and then transformed them into oil paintings populated by anthropomorphic mineral figures. His friendship and artistic collaboration with Salvador Dalí became central to his career. Dalí dedicated a permanent gallery to Pitxot’s work inside the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres. After Dalí’s death...
