Board size: 19"H x 22.5"W Frame size: 22.5"Hx 26"W Edmond Donald Mauberret (American, 1921-2004) was born in San Francisco, California on May 29, 1921, to parents of French descent. His father, Edmond Mauberret, owned the Hotel Richelieu, now called the La Quinta. His mother, Helene Miguet, owned a well-known society boutique, Marie et Helene. It was at his mother's boutique, where he used to while away the hours painting, that his artistic talents were discovered. A commercial artist saw one of his landscapes and recommended him to the San Francisco Institute of Fine Arts, where, at 13, he became the youngest art student to attend the academy. He graduated from Galileo High School in 1940. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. In 1951, after a brief stint as a graphic artist, Mr. Mauberret joined the Marin County...
