Judy Garland - Original Black and White Red Lips Mixed Media String Artwork
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Ricky Hunt’s work is influenced by Egyptian hieroglyphs, graffiti and his tumultuous past that led to a paradigm shift in creativity and life. On his sculptural and three-dimensional mixed media artworks he covers the wood panel with carefully placed nails and creates intriguing portraits with thread woven through the nails. The harmony of the overall filography composition finds its way through his intricate threading of yarn into a cohesive visual statement. Hidden within the patterns and markings of this string art portrait are limitless points of interest, constantly revealing the imagery in a new way for us to discover. His works have been exhibited at galleries and art fairs internationally, including Los Angeles, New York, Zurich, Hong Kong and London. This unique mixed media artwork measures 48 inches high by 42 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The shadows cast by the nails and black thread add a three-dimensional texture to this monochromatic artwork. It is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. It is signed and dated by the artist on the back of the artwork. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping available (this artwork ships in a crate). A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Philosophy, mathematics, scientific theory, poetry and astronomy are a few of the themes that run through his paintings and he expresses it with unique imagery. Hunt describes his contemporary imagery as, “Chaotic order pouring from the watery depths of my unconscious”. Ricky Hunt lives and paints in Los Angeles. A brief period of drug addiction in the 1980's led to a term of incarceration for the artist. This in turn led to the discovery of his artistic talent and personal transformation through the love of art. He found inspiration in artists such as Basquiat and Haring...

Winter Kill Five Paths Large Abstract Mixed Media
Located in Delray Beach, FL
Winter Killed Five Paths, 1983 Mixed Media Abstract, signed and title on revers. Terence La Noue was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1941. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1964. After going to Berlin as a Fulbright Meister Student at Hochscule fur Bildende Kunste in 1964-65 he went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University. In addition to the Fulbright Foundation fellowship, La Noue has twice received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. He has had extensive teaching experience at Trinity College 1967-72, the City University of New York 1972-85 and at New York University in 1987. He lives between Arizona, Paris, France and Vermont. Terence La Noue, who has created powerful, compelling paintings for the last four decades, is considered one of the outstanding talents of 20th century American abstract art. Layering canvas, fabric, gauze, acrylic paint and cast elements forming a lively melding of many different materials, symbols and colors to create tapestry-like paintings, he conjures up colorfully rich abstractions that reveal a sense of myth, magic and mystery. His extensive world travels serve as inspiration for works that are abstract mixtures of Western and non-Western traditions and histories. India, South America, Morocco, Mexico and Nepal have been favorite destinations. Terence La Noue’s unique approach to painting and printmaking has achieved worldwide recognition. Beginning in Berlin in 1965 he has had over a hundred and thirty acclaimed solo exhibitions in London, Paris, Tehran, Stockholm, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Palm Beach, Dallas, Atlanta, Tucson and Scottsdale. His work is represented in the permanent collections of major museums including: The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of Art, The Corcoran Gallery, The Guggenheim Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York, The Tate Modern in London in Japan, Singapore, France and Australia including the Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu, Japan, the Power Institute of Fine Arts, Sydney, Australia, The Musee d'Art et Archeologie, Paris, France. Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., United States Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York, United States National Gallery of Australia, Sidney, Australia Addison Gallery of American Art, Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts United States Embassy, Beijing, China His work is also included in numerous university and city art museums throughout the US as well as major corporate collections. Terence la Noue worked extensively at Tyler Graphics from 1987 to 1993 and is represented in the National Gallery’s Kenneth Tyler Collection by a large body of work made in 1987 and 1991. La Noue’s work is characterized by an intensive layering process, which was well accommodated by the Tyler workshop. The artist found that through collaboration with Ken Tyler...

Fils I Colors DLIII - Framed Blue Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Painting
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Experimentation with different materials, textures and techniques in each of his paintings has been a point of discovery and a major part of Raul de la Torre’s artwork. In his Fils I Colors series of works, he attempts to find the third dimension through the use of different materials. This colorful mixed media artwork is painted with acrylic on paper. After painting, the artist cuts holes in the paper which he embroiders over with the exact color thread. This original artwork measures 37 inches high by 30 inches wide. This artwork is framed in a modern white frame, the price and size include the frame. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Initially, he removed paint from the artistic equation by slicing the works, combining canvas and paper with selected materials. Gradually, the slicing gained more importance, a reflection, perhaps, of his increased desire to be more aggressive. Embroidery provides another element as it creates thick shadows with organic shapes. When combined with light, these shapes offer different views of the work to various observers. The interaction between the artist, gravity, and the paint is important for the final result. The technique attempts to eliminate the absolute imprint of the artist’s hand. This permits the paint to be a major architect of the final result, giving it a life of its own. It results in infinite and timeless color combinations. In many cases, the different layers of color each represent a temporary state of mind, time, and even places and people. “FILS I COLORS is an attempt to find life, movement and parts that are not static, that change in their interaction with the observer. The different combinations of colors represent different emotions and interpretations for each individual interacting with the works.” – Raul de la Torre The major motivation for the idea behind his series of city artworks “CIUTATS” was Raul’s city, Barcelona, and it's particular infrastructure and architecture which are unique among the cities of the world and which are easily recognizable. His personal attraction to the great cities of the world and the urban life was a true incentive. In this series he portrays the different aspects of the cities as a human creation with their different levels of physical and social existence. “Man created the city and in turn the city has molded the actions and ideas of the human race. I have intended to mold the city, to create my city, to put in order the urban chaos in a reduced physical space, Forget that the cities in which we live have been formed with asphalt, cement, human misery, forgotten revolutions, buried bones and transform them into a conglomeration of texture and color put onto the frontier of canvas and paper.” - Raul de la Torre Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Raul de la Torre's original artworks since 2010. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of affordable original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards. Bend 14 (Abstract Painting)
Located in London, GB
Bend 14 (Abstract Painting) Acrylic, graphite and thread on canvas - Unframed The threaded lines suggest a physical barrier that interrupts the shapes and stops them from connecting and at the same time a transparency is created that allows the viewer to enter through the lines onto the painted surface. The titles of each series can be interpreted as emotional, psychological and physical conditions. This work from the series called Bend is a zig zag fragmented shape with a stitched edge that amplifies its 3 dimensional aspect. The optical effect is sculptural. There is a constant play between drawing, painting and sculpture. The painting has a dynamic energy and yet simultaneously convey a quiet poetry. Holly Miller is an American abstract artist whose paintings strive to merge the optical with the tactile through the language of abstraction. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Communication through the touch (body language) has inspired her tactile abstract paintings. Miller's palette echoes the tones and hues of Italian industrial design from the 60's and 70's, while her shapes recall architecture and urban structures. Her work has a huge affinity to Fontana's physical approach to his paintings and Burri's tactile manipulation of the painting's surface. Ellsworth Kelly's bold shapes and colors have resonated with her on a purely optical level. Agnes Martin’s subtle, quiet, repetitive drawn lines, Fred Sandback’s strong architectural, minimal fiber lines drawn in space, Eva Hesse’s emotionally loaded structured webs, Richard Tuttle’s quirky and fresh drawings and humble objects, Bridget Riley's dynamic, optical compositions have left a deep impression on Miller inspiring her to carve out her own voice in Abstraction. By combining repeated threaded lines with geometric shapes of color, her work conveys many dichotomies: reductive painting and craft, illusion and material, warm and cool, absence and presence, masculine and feminine, bold and subtle, perfection and imperfection... The paintings have a physicality that is described through the monochromatic brush strokes and the punctured holes of the drawn lines that pierce the surface of the canvas, yet from a distance, they appear to be flat and suggest a fine line drawing...
