'Rona Wars: Cyberpunk Edition, ' by XVALA, Mixed Media Painting

By XVALA

Located in Oklahoma City, OK

This 61" x 44" mixed media painting by the artist XVALA is from his series 'Pandemic Collection: 6.' The painting was created with iridescent oil stick and spray paint on a screen print of a Star Wars poster. The abstracted "Basquiat-inspired" work depicts a silver robot with red eyes and large white teeth on a purple and blue background with the text 'cyber punk' in red at the bottom of the painting. 2020 twisted human reality in a number of ways no one could ever have predicted. XVALA pays tribute to this by melding the original Star Wars movie poster with the unexpected weirdness of the 21st Century. By combining a classic sci-fi villain with a modern symbol of literal Cyberpunk, XVALA shows the COVID-19 virus aimed straight toward the earth with a mission to destroy it. Exhibited during the Pandemic Paintings exhibition at the Meme Ranch August 7th, 2020. XVALA's art illuminates the hidden fallout spawned from our high tech Internet age. His' Fear Google' campaign exposed the decay of privacy and 'No Delete' used hacked nude celebrity photos to highlight loss of control over personal information. The artist has worked with trash from the homes of Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and others, as well as dirt from the graves of George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. The dirt appears in the 'New World Order' collection as part of a pyramidal, 3D printed, living ant farm...

Long Beach, California) had emerged as a leading American artist of her time—particularly following the landmark presentation at Paula Cooper Gallery of Rhapsody (1976), Bartlett’s magnum opus, now in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Bartlett’s first survey exhibition was held in 1985 at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and traveled to the Brooklyn Museum, New York, and the Carnegie Museum of Art, Philadelphia, among others. In 2006, the Addison Gallery of American Art surveyed Bartlett’s early enameled steel plate paintings in the period from 1968–76. In 2013-14, Klaus Ottmann curated her second traveling survey, which visited the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Parrish Art Museum, New York. In 2014, the Cleveland Museum of Art united her three monumental plate...

Chanel Purse

Chanel Purse

By Burton Morris

Located in West Hollywood, CA

Part of Burton Morris’ Chanel Series, Chanel Purse transforms the iconic language of luxury fashion into a sculptural work of contemporary pop art. The composition centers on the unmistakable Chanel name rendered in shimmering diamond dust against a deep black field, while layered silver chains cascade across the surface to form the silhouette of a handbag. The work moves beyond traditional painting, functioning simultaneously as image, object, and fashion reference. Historically, Pop Art elevated everyday consumer imagery into cultural symbols through bold graphic clarity and repetition. Artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein translated mass-produced imagery into visual statements reflecting the rise of modern consumer culture. Morris builds upon this lineage while expanding it materially. Instead of simply depicting the object, he constructs it directly within the artwork. The chains introduce physical depth and movement, transforming the painting into a dimensional object that blurs the boundary between fashion accessory and fine art. The Chanel motif also carries a long cultural history tied to elegance, permanence, and design innovation. By incorporating the tactile elements of jewelry and handbag hardware...

In this mixed media 24"x24" painting, 'Meme Money 002: Goochi Sponge,' by XVALA, the artist colorfully plays with the 'Gucci' brand in tandem with the childhood cartoon series, SpongeBob.
