(Qinglongzhen [now Qingpu, Songjiang, Shanghai Municipality], b.1255; d. 1328).
Chinese painter. Under the Yuan dynasty (1279–1368) he became an official, rising to the level of Vice-President of the River Conservation Bureau. He was famous for his paintings of horses, which were much admired by both his Mongol and Chinese patrons. In horse painting he followed in the tradition of the Song-period (960–1279) artist Li Gonglin, which was characterized by use of the ‘iron-wire’ line and a minimum of shading. Ultimately, however, Ren’s style can be traced to the Tang (ad 618–907) painters Yan Liben and Han Gan.
Ren’s earliest surviving painting is dated 1280, indicating that he was a mature artist by his mid-twenties. Although he worked as an official under the alien Mongol emperors, he was capable of paintings that incorporated clear political messages. The most famous is Fat and Lean Horses (Beijing, Pal. Jerzy Kubina Polish/American Artist: Jerzy was born in Zamosc, Poland, 1956. Studied at the Academy Of Fine Arts in Krakow 1981/1986 in the painting department under individual instructions of prof. Jan Szancenbach. He decided to immigrate to New York in 1986. Jerzy constructs large scale images on silk using technologies to create layers, textures, translucency. He is searching for a language that expresses the ideas inside. Sometimes the paintings are quiet and translucent, and then suddenly become very dramatic. There is a symbiotic relationship between him and the materials.
Jerzy Kubina has exhibited his work widely in the US, including at Soho New York's first-ever gallery, the esteemed O. K. Harris. He has also shown internationally, in Paris, Poland and Mexico. Kubina graduated Magna Cum Laude from the M. A. program of The Academy of Fine Arts, Cracow, Poland.
Artist Statement.
"I do not limit myself to a classical representation of an image. I'm in constant search of new media which not only enriches the subject but also inspires me to new forms of expression. Visual appreciation is a creative exercise performed in a specified time and a specific emotional state. The subject must be individual and unique. I do not attempt to keep a tight rein on my art’s framework, but give myself the opportunity to individualize each of the works. My present concerns are of the sacred and the profane, always longing for harmony, accompanied by destruction and devastation, my inner world translates that pulse into color images. My new works are a continuation of the process of creating art for art's sake.

Fereshteh studied the art of Chinese calligraphy and brush painting from 3 masters of Chinese art when she lived in the Far East. Her paintings are colourful and brush strokes are spontaneous, which comes from her deep impulses and passion. She creates colour symphony from the emotions coming from within and is influenced by the nature and people.

ABOUT FERESHTEH STOECKLEIN
Fereshteh Stoecklein artistic journey began at the impressionist school of painting ‘Ecole des Arts Francais’.
Her husband’s career as a hotelier of a luxury hotel chain meant living in many different countries, so to her exploration of art followed suit. In Malaysia, she was inspired by Chinese brush painting, studying under three masters in the art of calligraphy, Chinese ink and colour brush painting. Her versatility as an artist has expanded such that she has painted Chinese brush to watercolours to abstract acrylics - a truly astounding creative palette. Always producing exquisite abstract works taking their inspiration from nature, places she has visited and people she has observed.
