The Milliner. This refined late 19th century watercolor depicts a young milliner seated in the interior of her workshop while assembling an elegant lady's hat. Dressed in a pale blouse, green apron and deep crimson skirt, she carefully threads a bright green ribbon through a broad straw hat adorned with a vivid red flower. At her feet stands an open workbox overflowing with fabrics, ribbons and millinery materials, while baskets and worktables in the softly shadowed background reinforce the impression of a busy artisan's studio.
