Whitworth - A little horse in the distance - Black + White Landscape Small Print

By David George

Located in London, GB

"Although looking like the mid-west, this horse is grazing in front of an industrial spoil tip." - David George A solitary horse stands against a vast, barren backdrop, embodying loneliness and introspection... This minimalistic scene capturing the endless spoil tip horizon with a lone horse grazing quietly... An abandoned Car, Blackhall, England - Small Black and White Photogravure Print

By David George

Located in London, GB

An abandoned car rusts quietly by the seaside, a relic of times past... This print captures the serene decay of a vehicle along a tranquil coast. A forgotten car stands as a testament to nature's reclamation. "Coastal Ruin..." "Time's Relic..." "Nature's Claim..." "Automotive Ghost..." "Forgotten Journey..." "End of the Road..." "Lost and Found..." "Remnants by the Sea..." "Rust Reverie..." "David George has been exploring photographic representations of the contemporary British landscapes for forty years and has incorporated themes prevalent in nineteenth century painting practice and aesthetic, to aid this exploration. He has appropriated the sublime, melancholy, the romantic, the pastoral and the uncanny to create something that not only represents the contemporary landscape in a pictorial way, but also making work that can be still viewed as documenting the landscape." David George's interest in British landscape began under the tutelage of John Blakemore at Derby University and continues to be a major part of his practice, now mainly concerned with ideas of classical and romantic visual semantics in the contemporary British landscape. By David George

Located in London, GB

An urban landscape where manmade structure meets nature, evoking a sense of quiet introspection... Silent and steadfast, the weathered bridge stands against time, blending with nature's embrace... This is a study in geometry, shadows, and time, this piece captures the quiet strength of a forgotten underpass. "David George has been exploring photographic representations of the contemporary British landscapes for forty years and has incorporated themes prevalent in nineteenth century painting practice and aesthetic, to aid this exploration. Moving to California in 1998, Schott's work has evolved to include the epic landscapes and deserts of the American West as well as architectural, conceptual and more formal environments from both home and his travels. Influenced by a number of photographic peers and precursors such as Candida Höfer, Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth, Jeff Wall, Michael Wolf, Gregory Crewdson, William Eggleston and Joel Sternfeld, Schott's images successfully blend technical, conceptual and formal rigor with a decisive sense of composition and color. Schott's images have an iconic sensibility and give us a bird's eye view onto humanity and its constructs. The specific is edged towards the abstract, often revealing the compelling and disjunctive moment where nature meets man. Frank Schott was born in Cologne, Germany in 1962. He currently lives and works in San Francisco...
