ABOUT THIS PIECE: "I wanted to photograph the pools to show the beauty of the architecture, while minimising the modern elements. I love the geometry of the tiles, the lines on the bottom of the pool and the typography of the signs. Since my first Poolside exhibition in 2018, I have travelled to London, Paris, Manchester and Glasgow to add to my collection. Focusing on composition, carefully using blocks of colour to show interesting shape and proportion. Jean-Pierre De Neef came to photography like a new convert to religion, convinced that it would lend meaning to his life. His path took him first to a photographic laboratory, having once been a Cibachrome expert, regularly visited by French art photographers who made their way to Brussels to consult him. Well-versed in modern high performance techniques, nowadays Jean-Pierre De Neef produces art photos for several internationally known photographers whose works can be found in galleries and fairs the world over. Twelve years ago Jean-Pierre De Neef’s encounter with François Bayle, art critic and curator of the works of various photographers for Brussels Art Edition, enabled him to pursue his passion in new fields. He was at the side of the Italian photographer Fabrizio La Torre (Rome 1921, Brussels 2014) in the last few years of his life, who entrusted him with detailed instructions for digitising his archives and explained to him the results he was seeking. Jean-Pierre De Neef with his refined technical skills, and François Bayle with his creativity made up a team which was perfectly equipped to stage a number of well-received exhibitions of the work of Fabrizo La Torre - Museum of Ixelles (Brussels 2011), Principality of Monaco, an excellent Retrospective,(2014) and Bangkok (2019), which involved the presentation of the photos taken in Thailand between 1956 to 1961. Artwork sold in perfect condition Fabrizio La Torre’s 100th Anniversary Celebration (1921-2021) Set # 6 - Bangkok Limited edition of 100 Coffrets for each themes, all artworks printed on fine art papers later (2020-2021) from black & white negatives processed in 1956 To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Italian photographer Fabrizio La Torre, Brussels Art Edition has chosen to publish 12 thematic “Celebration Boxes”, each of 6 photos, and each box published in only 100 copies at an exceptional price. The chosen themes are: Rome, the Vatican, New York, Canada, Bangkok, Thailand, Hong Kong, women, children, transport, commerce and traders, and maritime navigation. Made between 1955 and 1966, these photos were digitized during the artist's lifetime and the technical parameters (framing, contrast, light, etc.) were approved by him. These are high quality fine art prints in A4 format (21 x 29.7 cm), on Baryté 310 gr Fine Art paper with museum quality pigment inks. Each box contains a numbered certificate of origin. The very attractive price makes these boxes the ideal gift to offer to all lovers of vintage photos, but also an original set to decorate a room or an office, or only to indulge yourself and feed your collection.
