Gutai Object, Paris Period by Takesada Matsutani Important organic abstraction in polyvinyl acetate adhesive on vinyl by Takesada Matsutani (Japanese, b. 1937). Titled "Objct" on verso. Signed and dated (1983) on verso with "Japan, Paris, S.F" delinated. Unframed. Image size: 47"H x 37"W. x 3"D Condition: Good: some bending and creasing to thinner edge areas top center and all corners, vinyl on lower right corner and under signature. One image shows a patch of vinyl tape, this is the artists access port for adding air under the acrylic glue to pump up the area. "Saint Vitus Architeuthis Manalishi with the Seven Tentacle Crown" by Hunter Stabler is an original ink and graphite on hand-cut paper layered piece mounted to plexiglass. The piece ships in the pictured wood frame and measures 44"h x 44"w. Hunter Stabler was born in Jefferson City, Missouri and was raised in upstate South Carolina. He received a BFA in painting from The Maryland Institute, College of Art and an MFA in painting from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Digital Art at Louisiana State University. His work has been widely exhibited across the United States and internationally including exhibitions at the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn, NY, The Shelburne Art Museum in Shelburne, VT, the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ, and the Islip Art Museum in East Islip, NY. His hand-cut paper artwork has been published in the books High Touch: Tactile Design and Visual Explorations, Push Paper, Strangers in the Nest (a book of Poems by Anselm Berrigan, Letterpress printed with images accompanying each poem), and published in Laminate Magazine, First Look Magazine, and American Craft Magazine. "Mirror" is a site specific installation that was exhibited in the show "Dialects of Place(s) by Land Report Collective at COOP Gallery in Nashville, TN. In this piece, Jobe uses industrial materials such as insulation foam, concrete, window screen, and graphite tracing paper to create a patterned structure that protrudes from the corner and carries the viewer's eye upward. At the bottom of the piece, we see delicately balanced concrete on top of pale blue insulation foam. The patterned concrete and insulation foam carries the viewer's eye upwards towards another pop of blue on top of the aluminum window screen frame. The screen gives the viewer a window in which to look through the piece. On one side, this mesh frames the graphite paper and on the other side the viewer can see the patterned concrete and insulation foam.
