Eduardo Costa is one of the key figures in global conceptual art. He was born in Buenos Aires in 1940. He graduated in Literature and Art at the University of Buenos Aires in 1965 where he took courses with Jorge Luis Borges in the late fifties. His practice developed into Conceptual POP with the Fashion Fictions Series, 1966-to the present. He is also credited with creating Conceptual Geometry which he showed internationally starting in 1995 at the Elga Wimmer Gallery, NY, and in 2001 at Cecilia de Torres LTD., NY. Kathleen Vance, “Traveling Landscape, "Golden Interior” found case, artificial foliage, resin, paint (12.5”x5”x8”) 2022 Kathleen Vance is an environmental artist who creates sculptures and installations that connect people to local aspects of nature that are overlooked or under-appreciated. Vance received her B.F.A. from Pratt Institute and her M.F.A. from Hunter College in sculpture. She has received numerous grants and awards for her artwork including: a travel grant to research the geo-thermal regions of Iceland, a grant from the Puffin foundation for public sculpture, a development grant from Aljira, Center for Contemporary Art in conjunction with the Creative Capital Foundation, and a grant from the Brooklyn Arts council which aided the development and implementation of an outdoor community based art project in East New York. Ms. Vance was artist in resident in Berlin, Germany, presenting a workshop on environmental arts in connection with the Grunewald Parks Department in Germany. Her sculptural installations have been featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville, the Orlando Museum of Art, the Weatherspoon Art Museum, the Peeler Art Center, the Weisman Art Museum, the Brandywine River Museum of Art, the Bruce Museum, the Ellen Noel Art Museum, Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden, the Hillwood Art Museum, VOLTA New York, PULSE New York and Miami, and EXPO Chicago, as well as many private and public institutions. Guillaume Lachapelle’s artistic practice is shaped predominantly by sculpture, expressed in the form of installations and detailed miniature models. Lachapelle presents playful universes which combine objects of undetermined purpose; in this way, he opens the conventions of our reality to fresh disposition. The architecture of his models – which Lachapelle has recently begun to make with the help of the latest 3-D printing technology – shows motifs originating from the everyday, certainly, but seeming strange, alienating or even uncanny when combined as the artist chooses. A kind of transition between two worlds often appears in Lachapelle’s work – for example when the model of a library filled with books curves inwards and reveals a mysterious opening pointing into darkness – these are the artist’s references to spaces and occurrences which may be concealed below the surface of outward semblance.
