Pyrenean bear sitting

By Georges Lucien Guyot

Located in PARIS, FR

Pyrenean bear sitting by Georges GUYOT (1885-1972) Sculpture in bronze with a nuanced black patina Signed " Guyot " on the base Cast by Martin Canal, without founder mark France circa 1935 Height 18,4 cm Width 17 cm Depth 18 cm Biography : Georges Lucien Guyot (1885-1973) known as Georges Guyot was a French animal artist. From an early age, he showed artistic abilities, but the modest conditions of his parents did not allow him to study art. He was doing his apprenticeship with a woodcarver. Guyot then excelled at copying works of the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, but soon he showed a special attraction for nature. This attraction led him to the Jardin des Plantes in Paris where he could study wild animals and translated his observations into sculpture and painting. As a famous figure of Montmartre, he was the host of the Bateau-Lavoir from the time of Cubism. In 1931, Georges Guyot joined the group of "The Twelve", created by François Pompon and Jane Poupelet, gathering sculptors like Marcel Lémar, Paul Jouve, André Margat, Jean-Claude de Saint-Marceaux, Georges Hilbert, or even the painter Adrienne Jouclard...

Cloned Schnauzer with water bottle

By William Sweetlove

Located in Östermalm, Stockholms län

Numbered 23 out of a limited edition 100 ex. 3 layers of gold color. Signed by the artist on the base. Free shipment worldwide. Acquired directly from the artist. Recycled plastic. William Sweetlove, born in Ostend, Belgium, in 1949, unites dadaism with surrealism and pop art in humoristic sculptures that at first sight may seem “kitschy”. However, closer familiarity with his works reveals their role as a creative antidote to the overproduction and overconsumption of our society. With his cloned animals William Sweetlove calls for greater ecological awareness and urges us to reflect on the consequences of the climate change challengeing humanity. His cloned dogs wear boots since the sea level rises and the penguins carry water bottles since we are runnig out of drinking water. William Sweetlove has had exhibitions at art fairs, galleries and museums all over the world. His works are found in several private art collections. He has also participated in different art manifestations worldwide together with the Italian Cracking Art...

Antique Bronze Dog Portrait of a Löwchen on a Marble Base French 19th century 1/2 x 8 x 5 1/2 inches The chiseled bronze has a nuanced, rich brown patina depicting a Löwchen in the round, seated on a quadrangular marble base decorated with very fine gilt bronze flowers and fluted feet. Napoleon III, Louis XVI style. Based on a model by Jacques Caffieri for the Prince de Condé in 1773. (More images to be added.)F Executed during the nineteenth century, this figure is fully in line with the eclectic taste of the reign of Napoleon III. Indeed, the Empress Eugenie brought the Louis XVI style up to date in her castle of Compiègne. Jacques Caffieri is one of the most famous bronze smiths of the eighteenth century. In 1715 he was admitted as a master caster and chiseler, and worked almost exclusively for the crown castles...
