This artwork titled "Fireside Christmas" c. 1985 is an original color etching by American artist Scott Fitzgerald. It is hand signed, titled and numbered 158/250 in pencil by the artist. Published and printed by the artist. The image (plate mark) size is 11.5 x 17.65 inches, sheet size is 19.25 x 25.25 inches. it is in excellent condition, has never been framed. About the artist: Scott Fitzgerald received his Master’s Degree in Arts from California State University Fullerton, and went on to teach drawing and printmaking for 2 years at the university. During his college years, he focused his study in contemporary art and photography, creating mixed media works often with social comments. It was not until the sophomore year, he discovered the traditional art of etching in his printmaking class. Immediately, he embraced the complex and difficult technical process of making prints from etching on copper plates. Scott Fitzgerald established himself as a prominent printmaker in the next few years. With a strong interest in history, he accepted a commission to produce a series of etching depicting 15 Orange County historical landmarks. This artwork titled "Old City Hall, Munich, Germany" c.1930 is a color etching by Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir 1881-1962. It is hand signed in pencil by the artist at the lower center. The plate mark (image) size is 13.25 x 11.15 inches, framed size is 24.75 x 21.75 inches. Custom framed in a wooden black and gold frame, with light grey matting and blue fillets. It is in excellent condition, slightly toned by age around the plate mark, see picture #7. The frame have a very small minor restoration, practically invisible. About the artist. Luigi Kasimir was born in 1881 at Pettau, today Ptuj, Slovenia, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He inherited his talent from his ancestors; his grandfather was a painter and a poet, and his father an officer in the Habsburg army, who later became a professional painter. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to the technique of the coloured etching, and also to his future wife, the artist Tanna...

Etching with engraving on cream laid paper with a Garden of Holland or Maid of Dort Pro Patria watermark, 11 x 14 1/4 inches (278 x 361 mm), thread margins. Lettered with the title in a cartouche at the top-center sheet, continuing "a Latere Occidentali Prospeus AD MDCCXXXIX," with numbers over the image at right that correspond to a key 1 to 29, and with publication details: "Georgius Vertue Londini delineavit et Sculpsit anno MDCCXXXIX". Multiple expert repairs, notably a Y-shaped, expert paper tape repair on the verso. Handling creases, toning. All issues are consistent with age. Wonderful country scene of woman feeding chickens in Russian countryside by Valery Kleverov (A.A. Kaebep) (Klever) (Russian, 20th Century), dated, 1971.
