Initialed lower right, 'A.E.M' for Anna Elisabeth Munch (Danish, 1876-1960) and painted circa 1940.
This notable Danish Modernist first studied with Karl Jensen (1889) and C. N. Overgaard (1891–1892). She later traveled and studied in Italy and, subsequently, at the Académie Julian under Jean Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. After her return to Denmark, Munch became a student of the Impressionist Julius Paulsen (1895-1897) and made her début at the 1898 Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition.
Munch became the first Danish woman to receive commissions for large devotional altarpieces and her early subjects were often derived from Nordic and Christian mythology. These themes were also explored in the large fresco commissions she completed after studying fresco with Joakim Skovgaard (1909-10).
Munch continued her studies in both France and Italy and also traveled extensively to Sweden and Norway. Together with the writer Sophie Breum, Munch built a house on the island of Funen at the artist's colony of Kerteminde. Munch illustrated several of Breum's books and, through her, was introduced to the women's movement. She furthered her art studies with Fritz Syberg...

This artwork titled "Sea Spirit" 1965 is an original stonecut on thin paper by Eskimo artist Egevadluq (Eegyvudluk) Ragee, 1920-1983. It is hand signed, titled, dated, described and numbered 20/50 in pencil by the artist. With the blind stamp of the artist at the lower right corner. It is in excellent condition. it has a minor thin crease at the middle center, at the edge of the sheet, barely visible, see picture #4
About the artist:
Eegyvudluk Ragee was the oldest child born to Pamiaktok and Sorisolutu at the small campsite of Ikarasak, on the southern tip of Baffin Island in 1920.
When Egevadluq travelled to Cape Dorset (Kinngait) to trade for supplies, she would buy graphite pencil and paper from the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative. Her early works filled entire sheets of paper, mythical creatures, bird-animal-human transformations, and images from reality - all randomly intermingled . By the mid-1960s, Eegyvudluk was using wax crayons, or coloured felt pens on paper.
In 1967, improved housing in Cape Dorset resulted in the Inuit abandoning most of the campsites. Eegyvudluk moved into the settlement, and by the early 1970s, explored the use of arcrylic washes, on which she drew her well-known figures and birds.
"I started drawing because I was 'tususkuk' (when I saw other people doing it, I wanted to do the same things)...When I start to make a drawing, I have a picture in my mind, but when I try to put that picture on paper, my hands won't do what my mind wants. When I have the picture in my head, I can't get it out by my hands. Sometimes I find it hard to draw when my children are in the house; I find it hard to think with so much noise around me. When Bill Graham asked David if he can "add the other two guys" to the image, David created the now famous orange poster with all 3 members of the Experience and this first version of the poster was never created until 2006 when we asked David if he could create an original painting based on the very first drawing that he did for the concert. This original painting was exhibited at the Bethel Woods Museum which is on the site of the original 1969 Woodstock Music Festival.

A truly masterful early 19th Century copy of the original Italian Renaissance masterpiece, "La Zingarella" by Correggio. The scene shows the Virgin Mary, cradling her son in a forest glade on their journey into Egypt. Several putti gather overhead and a blackbird and white rabbit (symbolising both Mary's virginity and fertility) can be seen at the lower left.Â
This beautiful copy has exquisite form, true to the original, and a masterful delicacy in the folds of the Virgin's clothes. This painting has been dated circa 1820, due to the style of nail and stretcher used to stretch the canvas, as well as stylistic and condition features. In addition, the Madonna’s features lack the saccharine sweetness of High Victoriana and posses a style closer to that of late Georgian painters...
