Beautifully adorned with stylized geometric and floral motifs around the rims, they measure 3 2/3'' in width by 2 1/2'' in depth by 1 1/4'' in height. Total silver weight is 13.6 troy ounces. Hallmarks are shown. Founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in Brooklyn, Connecticut, as a "stationery and fancy goods emporium", with the help of Charles Tiffany's father who financed the store for only $1,000 with profits from a cotton mill, Tiffany & Co. became a highly regarded brand for jewelry, gemstones, and silver. This classic English sterling silver coffee set is a simplified, elegant piece of artistry dating from the Edwardian period of the early 20th century. The set contains two coffee pots, a milk jug and a sugar bowl and spoon, all of which are decorated in a consistently simple yet effective way. The set is the work of the London-based firm Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater, a sought-after maker of luxury silverware in the 19th century. The firm was originally founded in 1838 by silversmith Henry Holland and would undergo several changes in name and ownership across the 19th century, before finally taking up the name of Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater in 1883.
